Forcenturies,peoplehavefantasizedthatsomedayrobotscouldhaveintelligencelikemankindandworkasfaithfulservants.Todaythisdreamhascometrueinmanyfieldsthankstotherapiddevelopmentofartificialintelligenceresearches.However,theissueofthewideapplicationofrobotscanbedeemedasbeneficialasdetrimental.

Ontheonehand,thereisnodenyingthatrobotsbringaboutanarrayofpositiveaspects,suchashighworkefficiencyandlowworkrisk.First,theworkloadthatcouldtakemonthstofinishbymanuallaborcouldbedoneflawlesslybyrobotsinminutes,whichallowsindividualstobeinvolvedinotheractivities.Second,itiswidelyacknowledgedthatrobotscoulddodangerousjobsinsteadofpeopleinhighriskbusinesseslikeminingandconstruction;therefore,ahostofpeople’ssafetycanbeensuredtoaconsiderabledegree.

Ontheotherhand,agreatnumberofpeopleholdanoppositeopinion,assertingtherearenumerousdemeritswhichshouldnotbeneglected.Tobeginwith,peoplelosejobswhenmachinestaketheirplaces,especiallyinthemassproductionindustrysuchasautomobilebusiness.InfactoriesofthefamouscarcompanyFord,almosteverystepofcarmakingisdonebygiantrobotsthatworkfasterwithhigherreliabilityandprecision.Asaconsequence,employeeswillhavegreatpressure.Admittedly,thereareindeedsomeoccupationsthatrobotsmightperformmuchbetterthanhumanbeings,buttheycannotworkinaflexiblewayaspeopledo,andtheyarelesslikelytomakecorrespondingchangesoncesomethingunexpectedhappens.Thenhumanbeings’supervisiontendstobecomeimperative.

Takingallfactorsintoaccount,robotshavemanymeritsthatmakeourlifeeasierandmoreconvenient,butworkersmaysufferfromunemploymentstress.

Accordingly,thecrimepreventionrequiresthejointeffortsfromboththegovernmentandparents.Thegovernmentshouldincreaseitsintervention,includinglaunchingpublicanti-crimecampaigns,enforcingnewlawsandpopularizingeducation.Acivilizedsocietyischaracterizedbyahighliteracyrateandalowcrimerate.Thenegativerelationshipbetweenthesetwoparametersimpliesthatonewillbeawayfromalifeofcrimeifgiventheaccesstoeducation.Totackleyouthcrimes,parentsshouldplayamoresupportiveandlovingrole,attachingmoreimportancetotheirchildren’semotionalneeds,limitingtheiraccesstounfavorablecontentsontheInternet,andcreatingmoreinterestingafter-schoolentertainment.
