LanceArmstrong

LanceEdwardArmstrong（bornLanceEdwardGundersononSeptember18,1971）isanAmericanprofessionalroadracingcyclistwhoisbestknownforwinningtheTourdeFrancearecordsevenconsecutivetimes,afterhavingsurvivedtesticularcancer.HeisalsothefounderandchairmanoftheLanceArmstrongFoundationforcancerresearchandsupport.HeridesforUCIProTourteamTeamRadioShack.

InOctober1996hewasdiagnosedwithtesticularcancer,withatumorthathadmetastasizedtohisbrainandlungs.Hiscancertreatmentsincludedbrainandtesticularsurgeryandextensivechemotherapy,andhisprognosiswasoriginallypoor.HewentontowintheTourdeFranceeachyearfrom1999to2005,andistheonlypersontowinseventimes,havingbrokenthepreviousrecordoffivewins,sharedbyMiguelIndurain,BernardHinault,EddyMerckx,andJacquesAnquetil.

In1999,hewasnamedtheABCWideWorldofSportsAthleteoftheYear.In2000hewonthePrinceofAsturiasAwardinSports.[4]In2002,SportsIllustratedmagazinenamedhimSportsmanoftheYear.Hewasalson
