1.AndthisisthefirsttimeI'vevisitedyourhometown.
注意在英语中表示“第几次做某事”时,要用完成时。
如:

perhaps与maybe的用法
perhaps意为“也许”“可能”,是副词,含有“也许是如此,也许不是如此”的意味。
如:
Butperhapstheydon'tknowthatyet.但是他们可能还不知道。
Hewillperhapssucceed.他也许会成功。
(不成功的可能性较大)
maybe意为“或许”“大概”,是副词,为美国英语,主要用于非正式场合,口语中常用。
如:
Maybetheywillletmego.或许他们会让我走。
Maybehewillsucceed.他也许会成功。
注意:
maybe是情态动词may+be,常用作谓语动词,有“可能是”的意思,要注意与maybe的区别。
如:
Youmayberight.你可能是对的。
Maybeyouareright.或许你是对的。
3.SoundsOKtome./Thatsoundsgreat.
“感官”动词用法小结
(1)look,sound,smell,taste,feel这五个动词均可作连系动词,后面接形容词作表语,说明主语所处的状态。
其意思分别为“看/听/闻/尝/摸起来……”。
除look之外,其他几个动词的主语往往是物,而不是人。
如:
Theseflowerssmellverysweet.这些花闻起来很香。
Thetomatoesfeelverysoft.这些西红柿摸起来很软。
(2)这些动词后面也可接介词like短语,like后面常用名词。
如:
Herideasoundslikefun.她的主意听起来很有趣。
(3)这五个感官动词也可作实义动词,除look(当“看起来……”讲时)只能作不及物动词外,其余四个既可作及物动词也可作不及物动词,其主语通常是人。
如:
Shesmeltthemeat.她闻了闻那块肉。
Ifeltinmypocketforcigarettes.我用手在口袋里摸香烟。
(4)taste,smell作不及物动词时,可用于“taste/smell+of+名词”结构,意为“有……味道/气味”。
如:
Theairintheroomsmellsofearth.房间里的空气有股泥土味。
(5)它们(sound除外)可以直接作名词,与have或take构成短语。
如:
MayIhaveatasteofthemooncakes?
我可以尝一口这月饼吗?
(6)其中look,sound,feel还能构成"look/sound/feel+asif+从句”结构,意为“看起来/听起来/感觉好像……”。
如:
Itlooksasifourclassisgoingtowin.看来好像我们班要获胜了。

哪些以-ly结尾的词是形容词?
以-ly结尾的词大多是副词;以下几种是形容词:
(1)一些表示时间的名词加上-ly构成形容词。
如:
hourly,weekly,yearly,timely等,这类形容词一般用作定语,不作表语。
例如:
Hismonthlywageisnotmorethanonethousanddollars.
他的月工资最多不过一千元。
(2)一些表示人的名词加-1y构成形容词。
如:
motherly,fatherly,manly,wifely,brotherly等。
一般用作定语,但friendly可用作表语。
如:
Sheisamotherlyteacher.她是一位具有母爱的老师。
Sheisfriendlytous.她对我们友好。
(3)其他一些带—1y的词也是形容词,如:
lively(生动的),orderly(整齐的),lonely,homely,lovely等。
如:
Theviewonthelakeislovely.湖上风光明媚。
OurEnglishteacherhasalivelyteachingmethod.
我们英语老师教学方法生动活泼。

6.表示推测的用法
can,could,may,might,must皆可表示推测,其用法如下:
(1)情态动词+动词原形
表示对现在或将来的情况的推测,此时动词通常为系动词。
Idon'tknowwheresheis,shemaybeinWuhan.
(2)情态动词+动词现在进行时
表示对现在或将来正在进行的情况进行推测。
Atthismoment,ourteachermustbecorrectingourexampapers.
这时,我们老师想必在批改试卷。
(3)情态动词+动词完成时
表示对过去情况的推测。
WewouldhavefinishedthisworkbytheendofnextDecember.
明年十二月底前我们很可能已完成这项工作了。
Theroadiswet.Itmusthaverainedlastnight.
地是湿的,昨天晚上一定下雨了。
(4)情态动词+动词的现在完成进行时
表示对过去正在发生的事情的推测。
Yourmothermusthavebeenlookingforyou.你妈妈一定一直在找你。
(5)推测的否定形式,疑问形式用can't,couldn't表示。
Mikecan'thavefoundhiscar,forhecametoworkbybusthismorning.
迈克一定还没有找回他的车,因为早上他是坐公共汽车来上班的。
注意:
could,might表示推测时不表示时态,其推测的程度不如can,may。
7.fairly,quite,rather这三个副词都可用来说明形容词和副词的程度,十分容易混淆。
fairly意为“相当,还算”,是这一组词中语气最轻的一个。
quite为“相当,或多或少地,在某种程度上”,语气比fairly稍强。
rather为“相当,有点,颇”,在这三个副词中语气最强。
试比较下列各句:
Thisfilmisfairlygood.这部电影还可以看看。
Yourcompositionisquitegood.你的作文还不错。
Hishomeworkisrathergood.他的作业相当不错。
fairly只用于修饰褒义的形容词和副词,如可以说Sheisfairlyclever,不可说Sheisfairlyfoolish。
rather主要用于贬义,如ratherpoor/bad/stupid/ugly,但它也可以用在某些褒义的形容词和副词前,具有比fairly更强烈的褒义,相当于very,如rathergood/well/pretty/clever。
另外,若在没有褒贬意义的词前用fairly,表示说话人赞同;若用rather,则表示不赞同。
试比较:
Thissoupisfairlyhot.这汤蛮热的。
Thissoupisratherhot.这汤太烫了。
Sheisfairlytallforherage.就她的年龄来说,她长得算是高了。
Sheisrathertallforherage.就她的年龄来说,她长得过于高了。
