Andwhatkindofpeopledoyouthinkarequalifiedforyourcenter?
M:
Thereare3mainareasweconsiderwhenweareselectingpeopleforworkwithinourownorganizationbody,andIthinkthisalsogoesforothersimilarorganizations.Firstly,wewouldlikesomebodywhohasworkexperienceassociatedwiththejobcategorytrainingwhichwassubsequentlygoingtogetthemwithinourownorganization.OK,let’s,forinstance,sayifwe’regoingtotalkaboutsomeonewhoisgoingtooperateasageophysicistwithacompanylikeourown,wewouldlikesomebodywho’shadpracticalexperiencefor5yearsinthefieldofgeophysicsworkinginChineseunsurefieldswithinthePRCandtherefore,we’llbeabletorelaytothetechniquesthatwewillbeapplyinginourownenvironment.Secondly,certainlytheirowneducationalbackgroundisofsignificance.Becauseinordertospeedtheprogressoftraining,wewouldliketofeelthattheyhavehadtherightsortofuniversitybackgroundtosuittheirownjobthattheyaregoinginto.Forinstanceagain,ifweusetheexampleofthegeophysicistisbettertohavesomeonewhohasactuallystudiedgeophysicsthroughtheuniversitysystem,andthensubsequentlyhadthepracticalexperienceusingthatinformationandskillwithintheworkexperiencewhichIjustmentioned.
W:
OK,Mr.Wood,youhavementioned2qualifications,andthenwhat’sthethirdpoint?
M:
Thethirdpointisdefinitelythelinguisticability.Certainlywehavetostatethatthemajorityofpeoplewho’vebeenputforwardbytheChinesecorporationshavehadadistinguishedprobleminthisarea.Asaresult,eveninourtrainingprograms,wehavetakenmeasuresandstepstoactuallyimprovetheirEnglishlanguageability.Thiswillfacilitatethecommunicationprocessbetweenthepeoplewhoprovidethetrainingandtheirstudents.NowmanyofthestudentsthatwetakeonwithourownorganizationactuallyreceivetheirtrainingandlearntheproblemassociatedwithourindustrywithinChina.Butalsotherewillbeothersgoingabroadtoreceivetraining.Andhere,theactualabilitytocommunicatewithpeopleofevendifferentnationalitiesotherthanEnglishwithdifferentdialectsagainisevenmoreimportantandsignificant.Therefore,wewouldlikepeopletonotonlyhavetheabilitytobeabletolistenandunderstandbutalsopeoplewhohaveenoughconfidencewithalanguagetobeabletoaskquestionswhentheydon’tunderstandandrelatethattothewholelearningprocess.Sothosereallyarethe3mainareasofexperiencewewouldcertainlylookfor.Andquitefrankly,Ithinkthatthethirdone,theabilitytocommunicate,isprobablythemostsignificantonebecauseitis,otherwise,very,verydifficulttostartwithanyrealprogram.
W:
SoMr.Wood,arethereanyothersuggestionsyouwouldliketogivetothestudentsheretoday?
