However,theantsaresobusythattheyfailtospotadishonestfigure.ThereisaspidercalledtheSalticidspider,orthejumpingspider,astheyaresometimesreferredto,whichhasexcellenteyesightandisonlyactiveduringdaylight,weavingaprotectivecoveringofsilktospendthenightin.Interestingly,theSalticidspiderdoesnotlooklikeagreentreeant.Instead,itchemicallycopiesgreentreeants’smell.Effectivelypretendingtobeanant,itgoesintothegreentreeants’nest,entersthenurseryandfeastsontheirbabies.Greentreeantsdon’thavegoodeyesightandsmelleverythingwiththeirantennae(twolongthinpartsonanant’shead).Therefore,theantsthinkthespiderisanotherantandignoreitspresencewithinthenest.
