In1543,aPolishchurchworkernamedNicolasCopernicuspublishedadifferenttheory.HistheorysaidtheEarthandplanetsmovedaroundtheSuninperfectlycircularorbits.Copernicus’theorywassimpler.ButhisSun–centeredsystemstilldidnotexplaintheobservedmotionofMarsverywell.
