Thriftisaneducator.Athriftymanthinksandplans.Hehasaprogram.Hehasacertainamountofindependence.Ifyouhavecultivatedthrift,itmeansthatyouhavetheabilitytocontrolyourdesiresandthatyouaredevelopingsomeofthegrandesthumanqualities—self-reliance,independence,prudence,andforesight.

Weknowthatallgreatnationsarefoundedonthrift.TheancientRomanEmpiredegeneratedandcametoanendwhenitceasedtobethrifty.Yetthriftdoesnotrequiresuperiorcourage.Itneedsnoferventresolution,butonlyalittlepatientself-denial.  AndBEGINisitsdevice!
