I.Teachingideology:

pre-reading,while-readingandpost-reading.

TheteachingmaterialisfromNSEFCModule5Unit2readingpassage.ThetopicofthisunitisthebriefintroductionoftheUnitedKingdom,especiallythatofLondon.ThispassagemainlyintroducesthehistoryofthefoundationoftheUnitedKingdom,thesimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweenthefourcountriesandspecificintroductionofEnglandandLondon.Thepassageconsistsof6paragraphs.ThefirsttwoparagraphsmainlyfocusonthefourpartsoftheUnitedKingdom.ThethirdparagraphmainlytalksaboutEnglandwhilethelasttwoparagraphisaboutLondon.Thetopicisacomplicatedonebecauseitcoversthesubjectsofhistoryandgeography.Therearealsosomenewwordsandphrasesinthepassage.Soitisabitdifficultreadingtaskforthestudents.
Theanalysisofthelearningcondition
Thestudentsarefromgrade2inseniorhighschool.Ashighstudents,theyhaveachievedcertainEnglishlevelandthehavetheabilitytogetthebasicideaofthereading.Sincethepassageisaboutamoderncountrywithcolourfulcultureandhistory,thestudentsareeasilyactivated.Withtheknowledgelearnedinhistoryandgeographyclass,theymayknowsomethingabouttheformationandhistoryoftheUnitedKingdom.However,theirvocabularyislimitedsotheymayhavedifficultiesinunderstandingsomesentences.
