Shunetel-Zebibispartiallystanding,butmostlyinruins.It’sstill,however,oneoftheoldestbuildingsintheworld.TheEgyptiantemplebuiltin2750BCEisofmudandbrick.Ithasanundergroundtombaswellasanabove-groundcomplex.Architecturally,it’sanodtotheEgyptianpyramidssoontocome.

Anthonydoesn’tmovefast,andcourierjobswouldrequirehissupportstafftobehisdriverandco-worker.

Launchingacompanythatemploys24contractorswithintellectualdisabilities,andallthelogisticsthatcomealongwiththat,wasn’ttheoriginalplan,Deborahsays.Buttherealitiesofdeliverywork—thepeaksandvalleysindemand,thelonghours—meantthatAnthonyandHammcouldn’tshouldertheloadalone.AndthefeedbackshereceivedfromAlberta’sautisticandintellectuallydisabledcommunitiessuggestedtheywantedtoworkforacompanythatunderstoodthem.

RunningAnthonyatYourServicehasbecomeDeborah’sfull-time,andshegaveupherpsychotherapypracticeandthepresidencyofAutismSocietyAlbertaacoupleyearsago.“WhatI’mdoingforAnthonynowhasmademoredifferenceinhislifethananyofthatotherwork,”shesays.“Wewanttocreatejobsforpeoplewithallkindsofabilitiesanddisabilities.”
