2、位重要作家及其作品,分为四个单元,即中世纪及文艺复兴时期英语文学、19世纪英语文学、20世纪初期至中期英语文学,战后英语文学。每一单元大致为四个周课时,在全面介绍作家的生平、作品和思想等背景材料的基础上,着重对作品或作品的节选作细致的阅读和赏析,其内容分别代表了古英语、中古英语、文艺复兴、新古典主义、浪漫主义、现实主义、现代主义、后现代主义等英美文学史上的各个重要阶段,涉及的作品分别涵盖了诗歌、戏剧、散文和文论等各种不同体裁。(二)英文简介This course is intended to have a closing reading of the most important works
3、in English literature, which is composed of several dominant periods: Old English period, Middle English period, Renaissance, Romanticism, Realism,Modernism and Post-modernism. Various literary genres, such as poetry, prose, drama and essay, are included in the required reading.二、教学目标(一)学习目标本课程的教学宗旨
4、是:通过精读英美文学名篇佳作,使学生对英美国家的思想和文化的精髓有深入的了解,不仅提高英语表达能力和文学鉴赏能力,而且增强学生对人生的感悟力和理解力,同时增强他们的批判能力,培养自身的人文素质和文学修养,形成优雅的气质和个性。(二)可测量结果1. 本课程的重点在于细读文学文本,讨论和剖析文学作品语言和形式的难点,获得对作品所表述的思想和情感的领悟。2. 教师在课堂里主要利用多媒体课件来介绍这些作品产生的背景和英国文学传统的发展过程,并重点分析特定作品的选段,以帮助同学形成阅读和欣赏英语文学名著的能力。3. 课前要求预习,要求学生针对指定读物书面回答问题;课堂内加强讨论,促进并开拓同学们的思维。
5、4. 教师将充分收集已有研究观点,在课堂展示,供学生学习,摹仿,鉴别,批判。在这种对比和评判中,学生学会构建自己的思想。5. 在指导学生细读整部头的原著的同时,引导学生把所读作品放在文化语境中加以审视,形成对人类生存状况的关怀,尤其是对当下中国现实的关怀。三、课程要求(一)授课方式与要求授课方式:1.教师讲授(介绍专业知识、背景材料,解读文学文本,提出讨论主题);2. 讨论课(由主题发言和质疑-应答两个环节组成,学生在讨论中如能进行质疑反思,则会在其绩效记录中有所体现);3.课堂报告(要求学生根据教学进度自主选择议题,充分查阅资料,制作演示课件,在课堂上作5-10分钟报告) 课程要求:熟悉基本
6、知识、培养思维和表达能力、提高中外文社会科学文献的阅读能力,提高对现实和艺术的审美能力。说明:由于课程的性质,授课教师将特别重视讨论和课堂报告环节,每位选课同学在课程开设期间须至少作课堂报告1次,讨论发言多次。作为听众的同学如能对他人的课堂报告和讨论发言进行有分量的评价和质疑,可予以加分。教师也将当场或下次授课时对讨论课情况进行点评,对存有的疑问进行解答或评论。(2)考试评分与建议教学共分4个阶段,每一阶段为四周。每一阶段结束时举行一次开卷考试或上交一篇学期小论文,每次计分25%(综合考虑学生的课堂报告和课堂讨论中的表现)。最终成绩是四次阶段成绩的总和。四、教学安排Unit 1, Beowul

30、语基础一、课程介绍(100-150字)(一)中文简介本课程以西方理论家Raman Selden主编的文艺理论批评集批评理论-从柏拉图到现在为主要教材,以问题为核心,从再现、主题、形式、体系、结构、历史、社会、道德、阶级、性别等多个方面切入,精读西方思想家的文本,并对这些问题展开讨论。课程以教师讲授、文本精读和学生参与相结合。(二)英文简介The course intended to introduce to students the dominant Western literary theories over 2000 years.
