3、c OS X recovery GUI, and maintains a high level of quality with accumulated bug fixes. This release is being made available under a phased product release lifecycle. Production-ready software is first released to Restricted Availability (RA). RA releases are fully-tested and production-ready; howeve
4、r, software and documentation are made available through an alternate process that lets EMC track adoption to ensure the early roll out meets customer expectations. After initial monitoring of progress in the marketplace, the software and documentation will be transitioned to General Availability (G

This is in contrast
17、 to the legacy Advanced File Type Device (AFTD) enabled by the DiskBackup Option and a Virtual Tape Library (VTL) configuration enabled by Autochanger Module licenses. AFTD and VTL configurations will continue to work with NetWorker 7.6 SP1 and higher; however, they do not take advantage of DD Boost
18、.Question:What are the licensing requirements for the DD Boost for NetWorker solution?Answer:For the traditional licensing model, licenses are available that enable the use of the new Data Domain Device type and the DD Boost functionality and are based on the raw disk capacity of the Data Domain sys
19、tem starting at 7 TB. 21、to use DD Boost?Answer:Data Domain Operating System 4.8 or higher is required to leverage DD Boost functionality. Customers with a valid Data Domain maintenance contract can upgrade their Data Domain Operating System at no additional charge, but DD Boost software license must be purchased separately

DD Archiver requires DD Boost 2.3.1 or higher. NetWorker 7.6 SP2 and higher has been integrated with DD B

Question:Is DD Boost supported in both regular and dedicated NetWorker storage nodes?Answer:Yes.Question:Can a site with a storage node or application host with DD Boost without a Data Domain system back up across the WAN to a remote Data Domain syste
25、m? Answer:No, using DD Boost over the WAN to back up to a remote storage node is not supported. However, using Data Domain Replicator between local and remote Data Domain systems controlled by NetWorker is supported.Question:Is DD Boost also available with the NetWorker client?Answer:No. DD Boost is
26、 integrated with the NetWorker storage node software, NetWorker Module for Microsoft Applications 2.3 and higher., NetWorker Module for Databases and Applications 1.2 and higher, and NetWorker Module for SAP 4.2 and higher. Question:What operating system platforms are supported for the NetWorker sto
27、rage node with DD Boost?Answer:Support for DD Boost is available on the most common platforms, including Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008; Oracle Solaris 9 and 10; IBM AIX (with 7.6.2 and higher); HP-UX 11iv2 and 11iv3 on Itanium (with 7.6.2 and higher); Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5; and S
28、USE Linux Enterprise Server 9, 10, and 11, with a mixture of 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. Refer to the “EMC NetWorker Compatibility Guide“ on Powerlink to confirm support for a specific operating system, application, and hardware platform.Question:What impact will DD Boost and deduplication processi

Will customers need to upgrade their server hardware?Answer:DD Boost can actually enhance performance by reducing the amount of data transferred to the Data Domain system, which reduces the I/O load on the server backplane and adapters compared to traditional backup.Qu
30、estion:Will the Data Service Agent (DSA) function on the storage node work with DD Boost?Answer:Yes. The Data Service Agent, which is used to route NDMP backups to disk through the storage node, can be used in conjunction with DD Boost.Question:Can customers migrate an existing NetWorker with Data D
31、omain configuration to the DD Boost-integrated solution?Answer:Yes. A migration part number is available that provides the required licensing to a customer who previously used Data Domain with the DiskBackup or VTL options. The best practice is to redirect new backups to the new Data Domain device t
32、ype configuration and let older backups expire. Another option is to clone existing backups to the new Data Domain device type. Once the cloning operation is complete, the original backups can be deleted. Data Domain VTL users must also consider the connectivity transition from Fibre Channel to Gigabit Ethernet. Question:Will older client software and application modules be able to send backup data through a storage node that uses DD Boost?Answer:Yes. Customers do not nee
