When you are of age, I will get you a job at the factory where I work and you will follow in my footsteps. 3 But I dont want to follow in your footsteps, I want to sail on the open seas and visit new lands, t

The father just laughed and shook his head, showing no faith in his son or his dream. 4 The kids at school also made fun of him, so much so that he stopped sharing his thoughts and desires and kept them hidden within his heart, until the time arrived, when he could make them

7、 a reality. 5 It seemed that the worlds thumb was pressing the boy down throughout his adolescence. Within fifteen years, the boy became a man. He had worked two jobs night and day saving his money, so he could put a down payment on a sailboat. 6 He answered an ad in the newspaper and set up a meeti

8、ng with the owner of a sailboat at the local harbor. The young man bought the boat on site and immediately paid the down payment and signed the sales agreement. He was so happy he began to share the news with everyone he knew. They were surprised, to say the least, and wished him well, while never a

9、dmitting they were wrong. But he didnt care, because now, he owned his own sailboat. 7 The next day, he went to the harbor intending to take his boat out on the water, when he saw official-looking men surrounding his newly purchased sailboat. The men were federal agents who were preparing to seize t

10、he boat. The man who sold the boat was a con man and drug runner and the boat was now being confiscated in a federal drug sting operation. 8 The young man had lost his lifes savings. He was horrified! The federal agents said they would be back in the morning to take possession of the boat and left w

11、ithout even showing concern for the young mans loss. As the young man was leaving, the harbormaster presented him with a bill in the amount of twelve hundred dollars for past docking fees, owed by the previous owner. 9 This was the last straw. The young man cursed the harbormaster and left. He came

12、back later with a can of black spray paint and painted over the sign on the boat, which displayed the boats name, Serenity. He then wrote the new name he was now giving the boat, Ill Feelings. He got on the boat and started to sail out to sea. If he could have the boat for only one night, then he wa

13、s going to sail it. 10 The harbormaster waved his arms and yelled for the young man to stop, that there was a storm coming. But the young man just cursed him again and continued heading out to sea. 11 Sure enough, after sailing ten miles out a storm overtook the boat, tossing it from side to side. T

14、he young man frantically headed the boat back to shore. When he was a mile from the harbor, he radioed the harbormaster and asked him to prepare for his docking. The harbormaster told him no, that he wouldnt let him dock at his harbor. 12 Was it because of what I said, the young man said in desperat

15、ion. 13 No, I never hold a grudge, the harbormaster said. 19、m How to Ride a Train 1 Its easier than you think to ride NJ Transit trains. 2 Not sure which stations are closest to your origin and destination? Go to Itinerary Planning. Just enter your origin, destination, the date and time you wish to travel and the customized travel information and youll get y

20、our point-to-point travel itinerary plus fares. If you dont know the exact street address, there are landmark options for popular destinations. Buy your ticket 3 Most rail stations have Ticket Offices or Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) available. TVMs are easy to use. Simply follow the on-screen inst

21、ructions. TVMs accept cash, debit cards and credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA). Just select the stations you are planning to travel from and to. All thats left to do is buy your ticket and get ready to board the train. 4 Please note that if you purchase tickets on board y

22、our train when a Ticket Office is open, or a Ticket Vending Machine is available, you will pay a $5.00 surcharge. Boarding your train 5 The tracks at your local station are marked with directional signs on the platforms. At larger stations, where trains board from several tracks, you may determine y

23、our train track by checking the departure board or TV monitors. 6 For your safety, while waiting for your train to arrive, stand behind the yellow safety line. Please wait until the train has come to a complete stop before attempting to board or detrain. Please watch your step when boarding or detra

Boarding and riding the bus 8 When you board, tell the driver where you are going and deposit the required bus fare. Most local buses require exact change in coins

26、or $1 bills. When the bus approaches your stop, alert the bus driver by pressing the signal tape above and between the side windows. An audible bell and sign at the front of the bus will indicate that a stop has been requested. 9 Gather your personal items and wait for the bus to come to a complete

27、stop before getting off. Exit through the rear door to allow room for passengers boarding at the front. Step away from the bus and wait until it leaves before crossing the street. Never cross in front of the bus unless its stopped at a red light. Luggage on NJ Transit Buses 10 Luggage will not be ch

28、ecked and the company is not responsible for articles left behind. 11 NJ Transit is not responsible for damage to luggage placed in underfloor storage compartments. 12 Bus passengers traveling on vehicles with underfloor storage may store up to two items of conventional size. No single piece may exc

29、eed 30 lbs. Passengers wishing to load/unload their luggage may do so at terminals and along routes. NJ Transit reserves the right to deny permission to load/unload luggage at any location where it may jeopardize the safety of the passenger, bus operator, or bus. 13 Passengers traveling on vehicles

30、without underfloor storage will be permitted to bring up to two pieces of baggage aboard provided it can fit safely and securely in the overhead parcel racks or on the passengers lap. A time-stamped ticket, monthly pass, transfers, or continuing trip ticket receipt is considered proof of payment. 15 Before boarding the light rail car, be sure to time-stamp your one-way ticket!
