The rapid
12、 development of science and technology, and international competition has become increasingly fierce, the competition of comprehensive national strength in the world. Science and technology is the main competition, the main symbol of modern science and technology and information technology. As we al
13、l know, in todays world, English has become the common language of the world, we have to learn more scientific knowledge because it is an important tool. And our country to outside world in order to keep pace with the international trend of the times better. At first, making sure that our citizens h
14、ave the basic foreign language skills. However, due to a weak foundation, uneven quality of teachers, limited teaching facilities and lack of a better English-learning environment, especially in outdated concepts and methods of teaching and single evaluation tools, the pace of improving the quality
15、of English teaching is far from adequate to meet the needs of social development. For example: Most students, after learning English for about six years, their learning English is still a “ deaf-dumb ” English and vocabulary is only 2000. How can we improve the quality of teaching foreign language m

To meet this need, the Bureau of Education, which has set up English courses in primary school at the beginning of the 21st century as an important part of the basic education curriculum reformation, formulated the “ Primary English Curriculum Teaching Basic Requirement (for trial i
17、mplementation) ”.English courses are favourable for improvement of national quality In Grade one or two, students are at the period of early youth with seven and eight years. At the age of the child is full of curiosity, active, loving performance, imitation and so on. They like new things, the curi
18、osity to unknown language can arouse their foreign language interest, and expect other people to pay more attention to themselves, hoping to obtain recognition of the teacher. At this period, children have more advantages to learn English than adult or senior students, such as initiative, moldable.
19、Therefore, English courses in primary school can also exploit the students potentiality of studying language. Through the study of foreign language to improve their thinking, moral, cultural and psychological qualities so that students can understand the cultural traditions of the nation and other c
20、ountries; to be in a better position to develop their thinking, broaden their field of vision, enrich their knowledge and experience. English courses help students improve their mastery, fostering consciousness of competition, which makes them adapt to the demands of society, economy, culture, devel

The features of rural primary schoolThe students are mainly from nearby countryside, distinct from the children who come from the cities. Therefore pupils have less difficulty in learning English in rural primary school. By investigat

The rural children were fearful and ashamed of speaking English, they were born in rural areas, influenced by special environment and family education around them. Compared with the children who come from the cities, they are overcautious, non-talktive, short o
23、f self-confidence, afraid to be criticized by a teacher after making mistakes, timid of speaking English or dare not to speak.2. Rural primary English methods and means have fallen behind those of city school. In rural area, there is still a primary use of traditional methods of teaching English and
24、 this “ Cramming Teaching ”caused depressing classroom atmosphere, students in a passive state of acceptance. Moreover, it did not meet the students physiological characteristics and age characteristics, but also unable to meet their interest in learning. Thus, the students are tired of and unwillin
25、g to learn English again. 3. Lack of English-learning environment. In classroom, English teachers should give class in fluent spoken English, the students get in touch with English about three or four times every week, only twenty minutes each time. But other teachers have classes in Chinese and som
26、e of students create disturbance or kick up a row when the English teacher speaks English. Above-mentioned reasons will influence other students English acquisition. Moreover, in todays society, especially in rural areas, English-learning environment is very few, even none; the students are short of
27、 opportunity of listening, speaking, drilling and English-learning environment. 4. The negative influence of family o education and environment was serious. Many parents might have been aware of the importance of English learning, but the considered that it was sufficient enough to learn the basic s
28、ubjects, such as language and literature, mathematics, science etc. The students need not study English in primary school, especially for six or sevens children, they can not distinguish the letters between Chinese and English. Their parents have a suspicion that the children were too young to learn
29、 English well, when children are imbued with happiness to tell about their curiosity of English learning, they did not carry on the positive guided education. Though some parents may be aware of the importance of English learning in primary school, did not create a good study condition due to withou
30、t sufficient knowledge of literature and know nothing about English. .
