5、ve the service I was receiving! I took the opportunity to say, “Obviously you take great pride in your work. You must have a story to tell.”“You bet,” he replied, “I used to be in Corporate America. But I got tired of thinking my best would never be good enough. I decided to find my niche in life wh
6、ere I could feel proud of being the best I could be.”“I knew I would never be a rocket scientist, but I love driving cars, being of service and feeling like I have done a full days work and done it well. I evaluated my personal assets and. wham! I became a cab driver.”“One thing I know for sure, to
7、be good in my business I could simply meet the expectations of my passengers. But, to be GREAT in my business, I have to EXCEED the customers expectations! This is the best time of my life.”3.The Blessing TreeI had gone into a supervisors office to talk about a couple of issue
14、s that needed to be addressed. She, like all of the men and women in her department, had been through the proverbial “ringer.” The stress was so intense, one could almost taste it. I had been assisting the department during a crunch period of being very short-handed, and was watching everyone get cl
15、ose to burn-out. When I inquired about her state of mind, she confessed that her home life was almost non-existant, because she was “zombieing through the evening”. The next words out of her mouth expressed a frustration of my own: “This work is not my gift from God. My family is!” I had heard of ha
16、nging all of ones problems from the office on a “Trouble Tree” while driving home, to be picked up on the way back to the office in the morning, and for a brief second thought about suggesting that scenario.But what came out was: “Why dont we do something different? Lets have a Blessing Tree. On the
17、 way home in the evening, we could pull down a blessing to dwell on a character trait we adore in our spouse, a particular reason we love them, the love they or our children have for us. The list could be endless.” When I tried it on the way home that night, the stress seemed to melt away. There was
18、 a “spring in my step” and when I arrived, a smile of joy and contentment was bubbling up from within! For the first time in 2 weeks, I was overjoyed to greet my wife and children!The Blessing Tree could make a major difference in your evenings, especially after those REALLY tough days. 4.The Most I

Through the years I would guess at what I thought was the correct answer.When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, “My ears, Mommy.”She said, “No. Many people are
20、 deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon.”Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer. So this time I told her, “Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes.”She looked at me a
21、nd told me, “You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind.”Over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, “No, but you are getting smarter every year, my child.”Then last year, my Grandpa died. Everybody was hurt. Ev
22、erybody was crying. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to Grandpa. She asked me, “Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?”I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me. She saw the confusion on my face and
23、 told me, “This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived your life.” I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, “My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder.”I asked, “Is it because it holds up your head?”She replied, “No, it is because it can hold the head of a f
24、riend or loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometimes in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will have a shoulder to cry on when you need it.”Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is sympathetic to
25、 the pain of others.5.Get a Thorough Understanding of Oneself 彻底认识自我 In all ones lifetime it is oneself that one spends the most time being with or dealing with. But it is precisely oneself that one has the least understanding of. When you are going upwards in life you tend to overestimate yourself.

Its likely that you think it wise for yourself to know your place and stay aloof from worldly wearing a mask of cowardice, behind which the flow of sap in your life will be retarded.To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to gain
27、 a correct view of oneself and be a sober realistaware of both ones strength and shortage. You may look forward hopefully to the future but be sure not to expect too much, for ideals can never be fully realized. You may be courageous to meet challenges but it should be clear to you where to direct y
28、our efforts.To get a thorough understanding of oneself needs self-appreciation. Whether you liken yourself to a towering tree or a blade of grass, whether you think you are a high mountain or a small stone, you represent a state of nature that has its own reason of existence. If you earnestly admire
29、 yourself youll have a real sense of self-appreciation, which will give you confidence. As soon as you gain full confidence in yourself youll be enabled to fight and overcome any adversity.To get a thorough understanding of oneself also requires doing oneself a favor when its needed. In time of ange
30、r, do yourself a favor by giving vent to it in a quiet place so that you wont be hurt by its flames; in time of sadness, do yourself a favor by sharing it with your friends so as to change a gloomy mood into a cheerful one; in time of tiredness, do yourself a favor by getting a good sleep or taking
31、some tonic. Show yourself loving concern about your health and daily life. Unless you know perfectly well when and how to do yourself a favor, you wont be confident and ready enough to resist the attack of illness.To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to get a full control of ones life.
