2、ything. for better understanding of the novel, i will divide this reading note into three parts. firstly, in order to make you understand this novel quickly, i will introduce you the major characters. there are three persons we need deep analysis. they are grandet, his daughter eugenie and charles.

3、the novel thesis puts their emphasis on grandet. grandet was one of the central roles in the novel. he was terribly greedy. he was the representative of greed and money. in his mind, money was everything, and he could not live in the world without money. he had a strong desire to possess money, thou

4、gh he had an abundant of money. he always left himself in a back room, and appreciated money for a long time. when he was dying, he asked his daughter to put money on the table, and money could make him feel warm. in order to collect money, he lost human nature. he considered no love was in the worl

5、d, and money is even much more valuable than his life. for example, grandet had a servant, who had worked for 30 years. but he never received any gift from grandet, except one old watch. though grandet was a christian, but actually he was not a real one. in his opinion, the existence of god was for

6、his need. for him, money was real god and all the hope. compared with grandet, his daughter eugenie was very kind and humane. she considered money as a method for helping others. she devoted her whole life to serving the people. and she had done a lot of public works. for example, she had built one

7、restroom, eight primary schools and one library. she used money to help those who need it. then, we should put our attention on charles. he was born in a rich family and spoiled. the turning point in his life was to do business abroad. the change of life condition made his moral standard and value c

8、oncept change. he became a very self-fish man. he wanted to become rich. in order to possess money, he gave up his true love, and pursued a noblemans daughter. to some extent, his outlook on money was similar to grandets. both of them were materialists and the lovers of money. secondly, the writer w

9、riting this novel should be introduced to us for we could realize the background information and understand it better. honore de balzac (1799-1850) could perhaps be described as one of the founders of this school that he established with the human comedy (1829-1850) - a long series of seventeen nove

10、ls, a vast panorama of french life that ranged from country life to city from private life to politics, from military life to psychological studies. it is by no means easy to choose one or two novels from the human comedy. there is always a temptation to add one or two more for a better understandin

11、g why balzacs works have lasted so long. perhaps eugenie grandet best illustrates his characteristic methods and the secret of his genius and talent. it is a simple story of a family house in provincial saumur in which lives a miser, grandet with his wife and daughter eugenie. both suffer continuous

12、ly under the stifling shadow of his obsession with gold. but the arrival of her cousin, charles makes eugenies heart turn gently towards thoughts of love and marriage, if only to get away from the father. but grandet opposes the marriage because so much of his outrageous gold would be carried away a

13、s dowry. the proposed marriage breaks down. charles goes away to seek his fortunes in the east and eugenie is left alone to face the future on her own. quite obviously, a web of intrigue surrounds mother and daughter. a bunch of ambitious men and adventurers, careerists and speculators and misers of

14、 all kinds congregate, all attracted by the pale, cold glitter of gold. part of balzacs continuing success lies in his portrayal of these modern types of unscrupulous rascals and the mania they have for social climbing and fortune hunting which he was the first to portray in modern literature. third

15、, from the novel, i could see the shadow of the real life. especially since the opening up and economic reform, china has been participating in economic globalization to a deeper degree. with the economic growth, more and more people consider that if you have money, you can make the devil push the m

16、illstone for you. their favorite motto is money talks. so the only purpose is to make money as much as possible without heart of charity and humanity. the major role in eugenie grandet, grandet reflects phenomenon in modern china society. from a great amount of information, some people think that ch

17、inese people are obsessive with money very much, and they are the lovers of money. for earning money, they break the law. however, meantime, there are still a lot of people doing charities with money. they consider money as a means for helping others, what they have done is the same as grandets daug

18、hter did.in my opinion, although many people say that money is the root of evil, every coin has its two sides; we can analyze the function of money from two sides. its a common knowledge that everyone likes money and needs money. without money, they cannot buy food, clothes and other daily necessiti

19、es. without money, they cannot go to school, go to cinema or other places. in my thesis, the novel analyzes the disadvantages and advantages of the outlook on money, and gives the methods for dealing with the disadvantages of the outlook on money in an appropriate way. under the analysis of the outl

23、it in our chinese class, hemingways novel are always interesting i like his novel much, also in his novel we can learn a lot by his meanings. its really a good novel for people to read. 第二篇 双城记 after reading is one of dickenss most important representative works.the novel profoundly exposed the soci

24、ety contradiction before the french revolution,intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel,and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes.the novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked bastille and so on,which displayed peoples great

25、 strength. the novel has portrayed many different people. doctor manette is honest and kind but suffers the persecution actually ， lucie is beautiful and gentle ，charles is graceful and noble，lorry is upright and honest ，sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm,unconventional b

26、ut also selfless and lofty，miss pross is straightforward and loyal，evremonde brothers are cruel and sinister.the complex hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge,but take the life as the price. as an outstanding writer,in dickenss work,the lang

27、uage skill is essential.each kind of rhetoric technique,like the analogy,the exaggeration,the contrast,the humorous,and the taunt are handled skillfully,and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak. has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are

28、all fictionalizes.with the broad real background of the french revolution,the author take the fictional character doctor manettes experience as the main clue,interweaves the unjust charge, upholstery and so many techniques,causes the structure integrity and strictness,the plot winding anxious and ri

29、ch of theatrical nature,it displayed the remarkable artistic skill.the style is solemnity and melancholy,fills indignantion,but lacks the humor of the early works. 第三篇 my feelings after reading wuthering heights wuthering heights is a well-written tragedy of love. after reading the whole story, i wo

30、uld like to talk about the main characters of the storycatherine earnshaw and heathcliff. catherine earnshaw and heathcliff do love each other very much, but they do not have the right attitude towards love, which leads to the tragedy. in catherines life, she made a very foolish decision-marrying to

31、 edgar. in fact, her love for edgar can never be compared to that for heathcliff. she did so, because she thought the wealth of edgar would be useful to help heathcliff. but in reality, it did not work. she did not have a good understanding of love, which is something pure and saint. if anyone add a

32、ny purpose into love, love itself lost its meaning. catherines wrong decision hurt two people who love her, and even destroyed the happiness of their offspring. heathcliff is a man full of retaliation. he loved catherine very much, but what he did, on the contrary, added to the misery of catherine. in my opinion, if he really loved catherine, he should not walk into catherines life again after his disappearance. further more, after the death of catherine, what heathcliff did brought agony to catherines daughter, as well
