2、In recent decades, international situation has been constantly changing, the communication between countries has become increasingly close, and study on intercultural communication has come into a new era. And the Western civilization with natural science as its main characteristic has produced a va
3、riety of maladies. In this regard, many scholars in the academic field propose to use eastern culture to alleviate and solve various contraditions in modern society. At the beginning of the thesis, the core thoughts of Confucianism focusing on harmony concepts was discussed. Then Hofstedes cultural
4、model theory are adopted to analyze Chinese mainstream values. Then it examines how Chinese values promote culture inclusiveness and illustrates the specific manifestations of culture inclusiveness in China. Finally, the study of cultural inclusiveness is put into practice in intercultural communica
5、tion and then suggests that cultural diversity, dynamic mode and complementary communication should be encouraged in intercultural communication. 6、cial role in international communication. As a typical representative of Chinese traditional cultures, the Confucianism contains a great deal of harmonious thought. Therefore, the study of culture inclusiveness is to combine the Confucian thoughts of harmony with the development of modernization. Do
7、mestic researches on cultural inclusiveness lay particular emphasis on the practical significances of Confucianism to modern society. In the process of application, it is essential to face some problems brought by the modern society. And moral values are at the core of Confucianism, and their import
8、ance has become more outstanding in the process of modernization and globalization (常俊贤, 2010:10-12).Some scholars does not hold that Confucianism is local wisdom and he believes that Confucianism is universal and suitable for all cultures. The development of Confucianism should be consistent with t

Ji Xianlin also emphasizes that Confucianism will play a dominant role in cultural relations between China and foreign countries (蔡德贵, 2003: 11-13).In addition, the researches and applications of modernization of Confucianism have produced a great influenced on the world. For instances, in
10、 1989, more than 70 Nobel laureates claimed that in order to seek a better life in the 21st century, human beings must go back to the Confucianism in two thousands ago (汤恩佳, 1996: 82).During 1950s and 1960s, as one of the representatives of studies on Chinese culture in the United States. Joseph R.
11、Levenson (2000) made his outstanding position through the book Confucian China and Its Modern Fate. With a broad vision, he discusses profoundly on such major issues as tradition and modernity, history and value, conservatism and radicalism, East and West, and nationalism and world view. And he also
12、 put forward many profound insights, especially focusing on revealing Confucian intrinsic qualities and functions to the development of modern society. Besides, Dr. Joseph Needham, a British scholar, has a lot of researches on Confucianism. He believes that the application of Confucianism in the cur
13、rent era would be an important milestone for the development of China and world. At the same time, it is reported that over 80 countries and regions have founded nearly 500 hundred Confucius Institutes and classes. 1.2 The Objective and Significance of the Research The purpose of this study is to ex
14、plore the concrete representation of Chinese culture inclusiveness, to probe the significance of cultural inclusiveness in strengthening cross-cultural communication, and to provide theoretical guidance for better communication and development. The research significance mainly has the following thre
15、e aspects.Firstly, the study provides a overall and scientific interpretation of Chinese culture. The paper summarizes Chinese values based on the frame work of Hofstedes value dimensions in five indexes of Individualism, Uncertainty Avoidance, Power Distance, Masculinity, and Long-term Orientation.
16、 Although Chinese traditional culture has been discussed many times, Hofstede provides us with a more comprehensive model based on statistic data.Secondly, the research of Chinese culture inclusiveness provides a practical solutions to the problems and conflicts in cross-cultural exchanges. Culture
17、inclusiveness promotes the intercultural exchanges because it shows understanding, respect and appreciation towards various cultures, which makes us more equal and less hostile to other cultures. It is also a new way to rethink the modern life and the increase of economy, and is of important implica
18、tion to environmental protection and peaceful development.Thirdly, studying culture inclusiveness by means of intercultural communication is an efficient approach to propel Chinese culture to the world. Confucianism has been the dominant ethnical and governing principle since Han Dynasty. The Analec

Nevertheless, due to the policy of exclusion in the late feudal society, Chinese culture is rarely known by the world. However, the research on Chinese traditi
20、onal culture is still at the academic level, and there is seldom a prosperous scene just like learning western culture in China. 1.3 Research Questions and Methodology The current research with the view to settle the following three main questions:1) According to Hofstedes model, what are the main i
21、nclusive cultural values in China?2) How does cultural inclusiveness affect cross-cultural communication and Chinese society?3) What is the significance of this research in promoting cross-cultural communication?In the analysis of Chinese dominant culture based on Hofstedes theory, the method of ana
22、lysis and description is used to distinguish the five value dimensions of China. Some representative examples and proper explanation are used in the discussion of Confucianism and concrete manifestations of inclusiveness. And preliminary advice for intercultural communication are put forward in the
23、end of the paper.1.4 The Structure of the Paper This paper consists of four parts. The first part mainly presents the background information, research objective and meaning of this study. And this part also presents the structure of the paper. Part two shows the theoretical framework of the paper. F

In addition, the theory of Hofstedes cultural dimensions, which plays a vital part in the paper. In this part, it introduces Hofstedes five cultural di

Part three is the core of this paper, that is an analysis on Chinese culture inclusiveness in Hofstedes model, and it also includes the influence and implication of Chinese culture inclusiveness to cross-cultural communication. 27、ghts have gradually formed, among which Confucianism and Christianity are regarded as the representative beliefs and thoughts of the east and the west.2.1.1 Harmony Concept by ConfuciusConfucius was a famous ideologist and social philosopher of China in times of Chunqiu, whose thoughts are comprehen
28、sive and influential. As an enduring classic recording the thoughts of Confucius, The Analects has great significance to world history and Chinese traditional cultures. In history, Confucianism has imposed a tremendous and far reaching impact on peripheral countries. And in recent years, facing the
29、new international and demestic development environment, Confucianism is well known and widely accepted. The core of Chinese culture is Confucianism, whose central idea is humanism with virtues of Justice, Filial Piety, Loyalty and so on. And humanness is known as Ren(仁) in Chinese, which refers to n
30、ational reciprocity and altruism among group members. Confucian harmonious thought consists of many different aspects, covering harmonious society and family, harmonious relations between monarchs and governors, fathers and sons, brothers and even couples. The word tong(同) which means sameness appea
31、rs for 9 times while the word he(和) which means harmony for 8 times in The Analects of Confucius(杨伯俊, 1983: 234). The word Harmony first appeared in The Analects of Confucius, Confucius said that A gentleman seeks harmony but not uniformity. Ordinary people tend to be the same when they intercat wit

But in the end, they lack harmony(关志坤, 2004: 261).That is to say, a men of high virtue could resolve conflicts in according to their own experiences and opinions and approach the problem correctly, but they will not blindly follow the tread in order to acheive harmony with others.
