General The vessel to be o
6、f all welded construction and to be built of mild normal steel.The vessel to be in conformity with approved classification drawings.Scantlings of hull and superstructure to be in accordance with the requirements of the Classification Society, and where not specified, the scantlings to be in complian
7、ce with the Yards practice subject to Owners approval of drawings.Continuity of longitudinal strength to be maintained as far as practicable.All steelwork shall be full scantling with no reduction for coating allowances or corrosion control.The structural design of the hull to be made to avoid stres
8、s concentrations and to keep stress levels as low as possible without increasing scantlings.If extra thickness and special materials that exceed requirements of the Classification Society and are not specified in this specification are required by the Owner, they are to be accepted by the Yard subje
9、ct to extra cost, deadweight, adjustment and concerned matters, so long as the work does not delay the Yards working schedule.All cargo and ballast tanks shall be strengthened for partially loaded condition, where sloshing effects are considered.Steel construction in generalThe hull structure to be
10、adequately strengthened and longitudinal hull buckling strength to be sufficient with regard to wave and impact forces, including consideration of buckling forces and loads imposed on the upper deck and sides.Special consideration to be given with regard to plate quality and thickness, and additiona
11、l strengthening in way of recesses and openings in the side shell and strength decks. (i.e. Shell plating to be strengthened in way of anchor recesses, sea chests, drain plugs etc. ) No doublers to be used.Doubling plates below all sounding pipes.Doubling plates below all suction bellmouths for ball
12、ast piping at bottom plates. Thickness about 12 mm.Cut-outs in strength members for cabling and piping etc., shall be fitted with stiffeners for strength compensation, and the edges shall be grounded smooth.Edge of all manholes and lightening holes to be ground smoothly also.All openings in shell, m
13、aindeck, innerbottom, main bulkheads, etc., shall have rounded corners.In all tanks particular care to be given to provide good drainage in order to get efficient pump operation.Slots, notches, air and drain holes to be provided.Access holes may be temporarily provided in shell, decks, bulkheads etc
14、. for convenience of working, and to be completely closed and repaired in place by welding, subject to class and Owners approval. Temporary access holes to be not opened at shear strake and stringer strake.Clips for staging, brackets, lifting eyes, etc. required for construction purposes, to be remo
15、ved and scars grounded down and undercut built up prior to gritblasting and coating.Scantling CriteriaScantlings of hull and superstructure to be in accordance with the requirements of the Classification Society.Midship Section Modulus and Moment of Inertia to be based on the most severe sagging and hogging moments for the following conditions:Minimum class requirementHomogenous loaded dep. / arr. conditions
