Smoking is not allowed here. 这里的sport是“消遣、娱乐活动”的意思。2、I often fish for hours without catching anything. 这里的fish是不及物动词。for hours = for several hours动名词catching作介词without的宾语。without是with

4、的反义词，表否定。例句：After talking to him, I felt better. Thanks for inviting me.3、But this does not worry me. this代指上文这件事。 worry v. adj. worried4、Instead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish. 动名词catching作介词短语instead of的宾语。instead (of) 代替，作为的替换。=They dont catch fish, instead they catch old boot

5、s and rubbish. rubbish = garbage 垃圾，不可数名词。5、I am even less lucky (than those fishermen who only catch old boots and rubbish). even 甚至，强调语气。lucky变成luckier/luckiest是指肯定时，这里加上less则变成否定。 =I am not luckier than them. = I am not even as lucky as they are.7、I never catch anything not even old boots. =I cat

6、ch nothing. 注意副词even的位置。8、After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an empty bag. 现在完成时的动词have spent名词化后作介词after的宾语。9、You must give up fishing! My friends say. Its a waste of time. 动名词fishing作动词短语give up的宾语。 give up 放弃。例句：Dont give up hope. You should give up smoking.10、B

7、ut they dont realize one important thing. realize意识到。例句：I realize that its very late now. 实现。 例句：He has realized his dream.11、Im not really interested in fishing. be interested in 对感兴趣。动名词fishing作动词短语be interested in的宾语。12、I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!动名词sitting

8、和doing作动词短语be interested in的宾语。而do是及物动词，因此也可有自己的宾语。四、总结与练习1、文化背景： 这个故事带有几分禅意（Zen），让我们想起一首古诗：孤舟蓑笠翁，独钓寒江雪。有道是，醉翁之意不在酒，在乎山水之间也。故事中的这个人在乎的并非是否能钓上鱼来，而只是把它当成一种放松身心的方式（a mean of relaxation and enjoying the peace of mind）。2、动名词：doing（名词性） VS 现在分词 doing（形容词）Reading is an art.Playing with fire is dangerous.It
