7、rogress of learning needs according to the survey result in the implementation of curriculum and teaching plan.Richards,Platt and Weber consider that Needs Analysis is the information that we could clear the reason of learning language ,needs of learning what kind of language and extent of mastering

8、 and so on.We could know the request of learning english and analysis the weak point of learning english further and determine the problem of teaching process by Needs Analysis,so that we can make attention for learning english.2.Investigation2.1 Subjects and ToolsThis study aims to understand the c

9、ollege non-english major postgraduates English learning interest ,learning objective,learning motivation,learning strategies,english skill levels and curriculum related aspects ,and than provide empirical foundation for the curriculum reform that non-english major graduated student needs changes for

10、 English teaching.So that we investigate non-english major postgraduates in our school reading.We ask some students to answer questions with the form of questionnaire and give out a total of 326 questionnaires.In the end we recover 326 parts of the questionnaires and than we find only 319 valid ques

11、tionnaires,137boys and 182 girls.2.2Analysis of survey results2.2.1The purpose, motivation and interest of learning English for non-English major graduate students.(Table 1)(1)cessity of public English course for graduate students. As is shown in the survey statistics, 9.4 percent of students hold t

12、hat it is unnecessary to run an English course, while 72.1 percent of students hold the opposite opinions, and 18.5 percent of students think it is not very necessary to run an English course. In other words, most students believe that it is necessary to run an English course in the graduate period,

13、 and they have fully awarded the importance of English. However, there are still a small number of students ignoring the significance of English.(2)The purpose of learning English. It is a multiple-choice question. As is shown in the survey statistics, 27 percent of students choose “compulsory cours

14、e”. 51.1 percent of students choose “English degree text”. 29.2 percent of students choose “to apply for a job”. 34.8 percent of students choose “reading English essays”.4.8 percent of students choose “study abroad”.8.5 percent of students choose “being interested in the history of English-spoken co

It is a multiple-choice question, because the motivation is complex. As is shown in the survey statistics, 32.6 percent of students choose “requirem

19、ent of university”, for it is a compulsory course. If you are fail to get requested credits, you cannot graduate. 51.7 percent of students choose “requirement of society”. Only 38.2 percent of students choose “individual requirement”. 2.2 percent of students choose “indeterminacy”. For more than 50

20、percent of students, the sources of motivation come from society or university, which means the motivation is external. The external motivation lacks of lasting power for learning English.(4)English interest investigation.Interest is the best teacher.The surge of interest in learning or not directly

21、 affect the learning results.The results show that,more interested and Particularly interested in learning English accounting for 53%,29% of general interest,19.6% are not interested in.Most students interested in learning English.Only a small number of students has no interest in learning English2.

22、2.2Non-English major graduate of English Learning Strategies investigation(Table 2)We are from the following several aspects to investigate the non-english major postgraduates English learning strategies,as follows:(1)The main way of the students to learn English.Survey results show,the most commonl

23、y used way is to self-study,self-study way for students to choose is more than half,65%.Second choice of Classroom listeningaccounted for 41%, few students can be prepared for class and after-school review,Choose this kind of learning style of students 8% and 12% respectively.This shows that the stu

24、dent is not enough attention to English learning.(2)Who is the leading role of the classroom.The results of the survey is Different things have different character accounted for 76%.Choose the teacher or a student is the leading role of proportion is very small,8% and 12%, respectively,The vast majo

25、rity of students hope that depending on the specific situation in the classroom,different situations have different protagonists.(3)Hope the English teaching mode.Survey results show,Most students would agree and teaching mode isTeachers through the situation of language teaching,students choosing t
