♦1.Tonarrateistogiveanaccountofaneventoraseriesofevents.Initsbroadestsense,narrativewritingincludesstories,realorimaginary,biographies,histories,newsitems,andnarrativepoems.

♦Narration,initsbroadestsense,isanyaccountofaneventorseriesofevents.Whenitisdefinedsimply,narrationisthetellingofatruedorimaginarystory.

abeginning,amiddlepartandanend.Thereisnoneedtomakeaconcludingparagraphwhenthestoryisclearlytoldandcomestotheendnaturally.However,sometimes,itisnecessarytoaddoneormoreparagraphsaboutthesignificanceofthestoryoraboutwhathappensafterwards.

♦Context:

Innarrativewriting,itshouldbeoftenmadeclearlyatthebeginningthat“when”“where”and“towhom”theactioninthenarrationhappened,whichprovideswithacontext,orcircumstancestothereadersoastohelphimtounderstandthewholenarration.

♦Selectionofdetails:

Inordertohelpthereaderknowwhatishappening,thewritershouldofferenoughdetails.But,thereshouldnotbetoomanydetails.Tohighlightthedevelopmentofnarration,theusefulandeffectivethingsareonlyrelevantdetailsorthingsthatcontributetobringoutthemainideasofthenarration.
