Franklyspeaking,IhaveneverfoundthefunctionandthevalueofreadingEnglishuntilIaccomplishedreadingthewholeFastReadingbook.Thisbookisfullofmanyfantasticstoriesandalotoffreshconceptionsandperspectiveswhichattractedmyeyes.IjustfeltIwastravelinginabeautifulplace.IenjoyedreadingEnglishjustlikeappreciatingawonderfulpainting.IhavereallyfoundthecharmofreadingEnglish.

Ihavelearnedmanyusefulskillsofreading.Ingeneral,weneedtoidentifytheopinionsandtheattitudeoftheauthorintheprocessofreadingEnglishbecausetheydon’tillustratetheirviewsdirectly.Butwecanalsodiscoverwriter’sattitudeonsomethingthroughthepassionatecolorofthekeywordsinthepassages.Somewordsarepositive,suchasoptimisticandgenuine.Somewordsarenegative,suchaspessimisticangryandcontradictory.Othersareneutral,suchasindifferent,subjectiveandsympathetic.Sometimesthewriterintroducesoneopinionatfirst.Whilehecomesupwithanoppositeopinion,sowemustputtheearlierparagraphsandthelatterparagraphstogetherinordertoconcludehisauthenticopinion.Andwemustpayattentiontothatnotallthestatementinthepassagesrepresentthewriter’sopinion.Forexample,ProfessorBaker’spublisherhasstatedthatthisnewbookwillsoontaketheplaceofall;theoldstandardworksinthisfield;inview,however,ofboththestyleandcontentofProfessorBaker’sbook,Ifindthisclaimmostdifficulttoaccept.Althoughthewriterquotedthepublisher’scompliments,hesaidhecouldnotaccepttheclaim.Weknowthatthewriteriscriticalaboutthebook.
Manytimes,it’sdifficultforustodistinguishthefactsfromtheopinions.Generallyspeaking,theopinionincludesaperson’sbeliefemotionandhisjudgmentsforsomething.Therefore,aperson'spointofviewcan'tconvinceeveryoneandbecomeatruth.
Forexample,maybeyouholdanopinionthatWangFungisthegreatestrocksingerinChina,butthere’snowayforyoutotransformyouropinionintoafact.Becauseotherpeoplehavetheirownfavoritesingerevensomepeopledon’tknowWangFungatall.TheonlyfactwhichcanbeconfirmedisthatWangFungisasinger.
