OriginsofValentine’sDay

Valentine’sDayisnamedSt.Valentine’sDay.Itisoneoftheoldesttraditionalfestivalsinwesterncountries.Althoughithasabout2000years’history,itisstillfullofvitality.Itisthetraditionaldayonwhichloversexpresstheirloveforeachother;sendingValentine'scards,candy,ordonationstocharities,oftenanonymously.ItisverycommontopresentflowersonValentine'sDay.Theholidayisnamedaftertwomen,bothChristianmartyrsnamedValentine.ThedaybecameassociatedwithromanticloveintheHighMiddleAges,whenthetraditionofcourtlyloveflourished.Thestyles,whichpeoplecelebrate,arericherandricherandvaried.Nowadays,moreandmoreEasternersacceptthefestival,andithasbecomeaworldwidefestival.
