Thecomputermousewasinventedin1964byDouglasEnglehartofStanfordUniversity.Ascomputerscreensbecamemorepopularandarrowkeyswereusedtomovearoundabodyoftext,itbecameclearthatapointingdevicethatallowedeasiermotionthroughthetextandevenselectionoftextwouldbeveryuseful.Theintroductionofthemouse,withtheAppleLisacomputerin1983,reallystartedthecomputerpublicontheroadtorelyingonthemouseforroutine(常规)computertasks.

Wehavetostartatthebottom,sothinkupsidedownfornow.Itallstartswiththemouseball.Asthemouseballinthebottomofthemouserollsoverthemousepad,itpressesagainstandturnstwoshafts(轴).Theshaftsareconnectedtowheelswithseveralsmallholesinthem.Thewheelshaveapairofsmallelectroniclight-emittingdevicescalledlight-emittingdiodes(LED)mountedoneitherside.OneLEDsendsalightbeamtotheLEDontheotherside.Asthewheelsspinandaholerotatesby,thelightbeamgetsthroughtotheLEDontheotherside.Butamomentlaterthelightbeamisblockeduntilthenextholeisinplace.TheLEDdetects(发现)achangingpatternoflight,convertsthepatternintoanelectronicsignal,andsendsthesignal(发信号)tothecomputerthroughwiresinacablethatgoesoutthemousebody.Thiscableisthetailthathelpsgivethemouseitsname.Thecomputerinterpretsthesignaltotellitwheretopositionthecursoronthecomputerscreen.
