Afterhisfather’sdeath,MarkTwainbegantoworkforaprinter,whoonlyprovidedhimwithfoodandclothing.Then,heworkedasaprinter,ariver-boatpilotandlaterjoinedthearmy.Butshortlyafterthathebecameaminer.Duringthisperiod,hestartedtowriteshortstories.Afterwardshebecameafulltimewriter.

In1870,MarkTwaingotmarried.IntheyearsthatfollowedhewrotemanybooksincludingTomSawyerin1876,andHuckleberryFinnin1884,whichmadehimfamous,andbroughthimgreatfortune.

Unfortunately,MarkTwaingotintodebtsinbadinvestments(投资)andhehadtowritelargenumbersofstoriestopaythesedebts.In1904,hiswifedied,andthenthreeofhischildrenpassedaway.

Attheageof70,hishairwascompletelywhite.Heboughtmanywhitesuitsandneckties.HeworenothingbutwhitefromheadtofootuntilhisdeathonApril21,1910.
