In2012reporterBenShattuckreadtherecordsattheNewBedfordWhalingMuseumResearchLibrary.Despitehisextensiveresearchatoneofthemostcomprehensivewhalingarchives(档案),hefailedtofindasinglereportofanyoneeverbeingswallowedalivebyawhale.Hefoundplentyofreportsofwhalerswhowerebittenorinjuredbythecreatures,andseveralwhodiedafterfightingwithawhale,butnonerelatedtoswallowing.
