LuXunisoneofthegreatestChinesewritersofthe20th century.Besideshisfamousstories,healsowrotemanyinfluentialarticlesaboutthelivingconditionsofChinesepeople.

     Afterworkingforseveralyearsasateacherin Beijing,LuXunagainreturnedtowriting.In1918,hewrotehisfamousshortstory DiaryofaMadman.ItwasthefirstChinesenovelpublishedusingtheeverydaylanguagethatpeoplespoke,whichhelpedmakeitagreatsuccess. This,togetherwithhisnovel TheTrueStoryofAhQ (1921),madeLuXunaleadingChinesewriter.

     Althoughsuccessful,LuXunstillworried greatlyabout China’sfuture.In1926,hemovedtoShanghai andgaveupwritingstoriesinordertodevotehimselftowhathecalled“penwarfare”.Henowonlywrotearticleswhichcalledonthepeopletofightagainstthegovernment.Forthis,thegovernmentstoppedhim from publishinganymorebooks.Hewasforcedtowritehisarticlesusingfalsenames.

Sincehisdeathin1936,LuXun’simportanceandinfluencehavegrown.Today,manyofhiswritingsareincludedinschooltextbooksandhisworksarereadbymillionsaroundtheworld.
