BenedictalsosaidpreviousstudieswhichlinkedalackofsleepwithincreasedriskofAlzheimer’s,Parkinson’sandmultiplesclerosiscouldapplaudhisstudy.Theriseofthechemicalsinthebloodaftersleeplossmaysuggestnotgettingenoughsleepcontributestoalossofbraintissue,heexplained.Benedict,whosestudyispublishedinthejournalSleep,added,"Inconclusion,thefindingsofourexperimentindicateagoodnight’ssleepmaybecriticaltomaintainingbrainhealth."
