(2)supportingsentenceswithexamples,analogies,statistics,testimonies,etc.;(3)transitionalsentencesattheendoftheparagraph;and(4)acoherentandlogicalstructurethatallowsyouraudiencetoeffortlesslyfollowyourentirespeechandseehowyourmainpoints(supportingparagraphs)supportyourthesis/centralidea.Unit9SpeakingtoPersuadeTips&WarningsRememberthatwithapersuasivespeech,youaretryingtotalkyouraudienceintotakinganactionoradoptabelief.Writeyouroutlineinparagraphform.Rememberthatyoushouldbeabletorelateeachparagraphtoyourthesis/centralidea.Lookforsupportingmaterialthatwillbackupyourgeneralstatements.Usespecificexamplestosupportyourideas.Toeffectivelyusestatistics:
(1)identifythesourceofyourstatistics;
