Usingtextingtoboostefficiencyisnotrocketscience,butbigsavingscanbeachieved.SeveraltrialscarriedoutinEnglandhavefoundthattheuseoftext-messagingremindersreducesthenumberofmissedappointmentswithfamilydoctorsby26%-39%,forexample,andthenumberofmissedhospitalappointmentsby33%-50%.Ifsuch schemes were rolledout nationally,thiswouldtranslateintoannualsavingsof256millionto364millionpounds.
