WHATISTHECORRUGATED?

（什么是瓦楞纸）

Corrugatedfiberboardor"combinedboard"hastwomaincomponents:

theliner（里纸）andthemedium（芯纸）.Botharemadeofaspecialkindofheavypapercalledcontainerboard（箱板纸）.

Linerboard（瓦楞纸箱中层的下强箱板纸）istheflatfacingthatadherestothemedium.Themediumisthewavy,flutedpaper（楞纸）inbetweentheliners.

COMMONBOARDSTYLES时常使用纸板的种类

A、SingleFace:

Onemediumisgluedtooneflatsheetoflinerboard.

单里纸板：

一层芯纸粘交正在一层仄里箱板纸上.

B、SingleWall:

Themediumisbetweentwosheetsoflinerboard.AlsoknownasDoubleFace.

单瓦楞纸板：

芯纸粘正在两层箱板纸之间，也被称为单层纸板.

C、DoubleWall:

Threesheetsoflinerboardwithtwomediumsinbetween.

单瓦楞纸板：

两层芯纸夹正在三层里纸之间.（正在华夏又被称为五层瓦楞纸板）

D、TripleWall:

Foursheetsoflinerboardwiththreemediumsinbetween.

三瓦楞纸板：

三层芯纸夹正在四层里纸之间.（正在华夏又被称为7层瓦楞纸板）

Flutes楞形

Architectshaveknownforthousandsofyearsthatanarch（拱）withthepropercurve（直线）isthestrongestwaytospanagivenspace（超过一个给定的空间）.Theinventorsofcorrugatedfiberboardappliedthissameprincipletopaperwhentheyputarchesinthecorrugatedmedium（瓦楞芯纸）.Thesearchesareknownasflutes（楞）andwhenanchoredtothelinerboardwithadhesive,theyresistbendingandpressurefromalldirections.

Whenapieceofcombinedboardisplacedonitsend,thearchesformrigidcolumns,capableofsupportingagreatdealofweight.Whenpressureisappliedtothesideoftheboard,thespaceinbetweentheflutesactsasacushion（垫子）toprotectthecontainer'scontents.Theflutesalsoserveasaninsulator（绝缘体,绝热器,保温层）,providingsomeproductprotectionfromsuddentemperaturechanges.Atthesametime,theverticallinerboardprovidesevenmorestrengthandprotectstheflutesfromdamage.

Flutescomeinseveralstandardshapesorfluteprofiles（A,B,C,E,F,etc.）.A-flute（A楞）wasthefirsttobedeveloped.B-flutewasthenextandismuchsmallerthanA-flute.C-flutefollowedandisbetweenAandBinsize.Itisalsothemostcommonlargefluteprofile.E-fluteissmallerthanBandF-fluteissmalleryet.Duetovariancesinflutesizesbetweenmanufacturers,FBAnolongerpublishesfluteguidelines.

Inadditiontothesefivemostcommonprofiles,newfluteprofiles—bothlargerandsmallerthanthoselistedhere—arebeingcreatedformorespecializedboards.Generally,largerfluteprofilesdelivergreaterverticalcompressionstrength（笔直压力）andcushioning,whilesmallerprofilesprovidebetterresistancetoprocessandprintingcrush.

Differentfluteprofilescanbecombinedinonepieceofcombinedboard.Forinstance,inatriplewallboard,onelayerofmediummightbeA-flutewhiletheothertwolayersmightbeC-flute.Mixingfluteprofilesinthiswayallowsdesignerstomanipulatethecompressionstrength,cushioningstrength（减震强度、慢冲强度）andtotalthicknessofthecombinedboard
