BSEN13238describestheconditioningproceduresfortestspecimenswhichwillbetestedaccordingtotheEuropeanstandardsforreactiontofire.

BSEN13238alsocoverstherulesfortheselectionofsubstratesforconstructionproductswhencarryingoutreactiontofiretests.

BSEN13238doesnotcontainrequirementsfor:

∙Thepre-dryingoftestspecimensforthenon-combustibilitytestaccordingENISO1182

∙Methodsofcleaning（e.g.washing）andothermethodsfortheassessmentofdurabilityaspects,whicharedealtwithintherelevantproductstandards.

TESTPRINCIPLE

Thespecimenisexposedtoadiffusiveflameof30kW.Combustiongasesarecollectedbyanexhausthoodforanalysis.Thisgasanalysismakesitpossiblebyoxygendepletiontocalculateheatreleaseratefromthespecimen.Smokeproductionisassessedbymeasuringattenuationofalightbeambysmokeintheexhaustduct.Theburningbehaviourofthespecimenisobservedforflamespread,andtheoccurrenceofburningparticlesanddroplets.
