信用证的含义

•（LetterofCredit,L/C）是开证银行根据开证申请人的请求和开证行以自身的名义向受益人开立的在一定金额和一定期限内凭规定的单据承诺付款的书面文件。

简而言之，信用证是一种银行开立的有条件的承诺付款的书面文件。

信用证的当事人

（一）  开证申请人（Applicant）

（二）  开证行（IssuingBank）

（三）  通知行（AdvisingBank）（四）  受益人（Beneficiary）

（五） 议付行（NegotiatingBank）六）  付款行（PayingBank）

信用证的收付程序

TheFunctionofL/C

•Ininternationaltrade,iftheexportereffectshisshipmenttotheimporterbeforetheimportereffectshispayment,hewillfeelanxiousfornotbeingabletoreceivethemoneyforgoods.Atthesametime,theimporterwillnotrestassuredofhiseffectingpaymentbeforehisreceivingthegoods,hewillbeafraidofnotreceivingthegoods.

•Therefore,theimporterwillapplytothelocalbankofhiscountryforopeningalettertypecertificate,i.e.letterofcredit,andinformtheexporterthroughthelocalbankoftheexporter.TheopeningbankwillguaranteetheimporteraccordingtothestipulationsoftheL/Cforcertificatingtheexporter’sshipmenthavingbeeneffected.
