StatisticsreleasedbyrelevantdepartmentsofChinashowthatin2006,graduatesfromallChinesecollegesanduniversitiesnumbered4.13million,up750,000from2005withagrowthrateofroughly22%.Hence,theemploymenttensionfurtherintensifies.Meanwhile,variousintangiblebarriersexistinsocialrelations,regionalrestriction,permanentresidencyanduniversity'sreputationhavemadethegraduates'job-huntingprocesstougher.

Someanalyzethatagainstthebackdropofintensifiedemploymenttensionforuniversitygraduates,needystudentsfromruralandurbanareasusuallyfindthemselvesinrelativelyinferiorpositions.

Somegraduatesrealizethatinordertogetajob,theyhavetosignsome"unfairtreaties"thatpromisenottotakethepostgraduateexamorleavethecompanywithinseveralyears,ortheyhavetopay5,000Yuanforbreachingthecontract.Somerecruitersevendeclareopenlythattheyonlyneedstudentsfromfamousuniversities,sograduatesfromotherschoolsarenotevenentitledtoapply.

CurrentlythecontradictioninChina'shighereducationhastransferredfromenteringtoleavingauniversityandfromthedifficultyinenrollmenttoemploymentaftergraduation.Ithasbecomeacommonphenomenonthat"graduatesbecomejobless".Shouldthisproblemnotbetackledrightly,theemploymentissuewouldturnintoanewfactorthatcausessocialinstability.

HowCanWeFinanceOurCollegeEducation?

Nowadays,tuitionfeesforcollegearemuchhigherthaneverbefore.Howtofinanceourcollegeeducationhasbecomeamatterofconcernformanystudents,especiallythosewhoarefromtheremoteareas.

Actually,therearemanywaystosolvethisproblem.Wecangetthemoneyfromourparents.Wecanapplyforaloanespeciallysetupforcollegestudents.Wecanalsoacquirethemoneyentirelybyourselves,keepingapart-timejobinoursparetimeanddoingafull-timejobinsummerandwinterholidays.Orwecanaskourparentsformostofthemoneyandearntherestinoursparetimeincollege.

AsfarasIamconcerned,Ipreferthelastway.Idon'twanttodependentirelyonmyparents,whichwillbeaburdentothem.NordoIwanttoworkinmyfreetimeforthetuitionalone,becauseIwouldliketohaveenoughtimeformyschoolwork.Ifmyparentspaymostofthetuitionforme,Iwillworkparttimefortherestandthis,Ibelieve,canmakemycollegeliferichandcolorful.

IntroductionofMyCollege

I'mastudentatMaebashiInstituteofTechnologyinGunma.ItislocatedbetweenKomagataandShinmaebashiontheJRRyomoLine.It'sonly10minutesfromJRMaebashistationonabusorataxi.

Maebitwasoriginallyfoundedin1952asajuniorcollegeanditevolvedintoafour-yearcollegein1997.Todaytherearesome700studentsinboththejuniorcollegeandthefour-yearundergraduateschool.

Ourschoolofferstwosetsofprograms,thedaycourseandtheeveningcourse.Studentscanchoosewhicheversuitstheirconveniencesbestfromthosetwocourses.Manylessonsherearetaughtinsmall-sizedclasses.

I'mintheDepartmentofInformationEngineering.MyfieldofstudyisRobotics.Thefirstperiodbeginsat9:

30a.m.,whichisratherlate,andthelastperiodofthedaycourseendsat4:

55p.m.Theclassesfortheeveningcoursebeginat5:

45p.m.andendat8:

50p.m.

Maebit'scampusisnotverylargebutithasalotofflowerbedsandplants.Oncampustherearethelibrary,theclubbuilding,sportsfields,thestudentunionhall,thelaboratorybuilding,andmanyotherfacilities.Ourdepartmentbuildingliesinthenorthwestcornerofcampus.Thisbuildingwasbuiltaboutfiveyearsago,andeverythingisstillnewinthisbuilding.

Therearemanyclubs,butI'mnotamemberofanyclub.OneofmyfriendsisamemberoftheTennisClubinwhichthereare5members.TheypracticeeveryWednesdayandSaturdayafternoon.Theyarehopingtomakeitintothebest8inthecomingintercollegiatetournament.

Ilikemycollege.Ihavealreadymadesomegoodfriendsandwe'reenjoyingourschoollife.

CopingwithStressinCollege

Collegelifecanbeverystressful.Sometimesparents,facultyandotherstendtoidealizetheircollegeexperienceandrememberitasthatidyllictimewhentheyhadfewworriesorresponsibilities.Tostudentscurrentlyattendingcollege,however,theprocessisoftenstressfulandfrustrating.Thecompetitionforgrades,theneedtoperform,relationships,careerchoice,andmanyotheraspectsofthecollegeenvironmentcausestress.

Butbeforecondemningstressoutright,weneedtounderstandthatstressisonlyharmfulwhenitisexcessive.Muchofthestressthatweallexperienceishelpfulandstimulating.Thechallengesoflifetendtobestressfulandanattempttoavoidstresscompletelywouldleadtoaratherboringexistence.Theproblemcomeswhenyouexperiencetoomuchstress.

Therearefourprimarysourcesofstress:

theenvironment,(noise,pollution,traffic,crowding,andtheweather),physiology,(illness,injuries,hormonalfluctuations,andinadequatesleepornutrition),students’thoughts(negativeself-talk,catastrophizing,andperfectionism),andsocialstressors(financialproblems,workdemands,socialevents,andlosingalovedone).Symptomsofstressappearinmanyforms.Somesymptomsonlyimpactthepersonwhoisdirectlyexperiencingstress,whileothersymptomsmayhaveanimpactonourrelationshipswithothers.

Althoughsomestressreactionsarepartofdeeperandmoreseriousemotionalproblems,manyarenot,andcanbehandledwithrelativelysimplecounselingandstress-managementtechniques.Developingabalancedlifestyle,gainingperspectivebydiscussingproblemswithotherstudentsortutors,specifyingrelaxationtechniques,andclarifyingyourvaluesandcultivatingasenseoflifemeaningcanhelpyourelieveyourstressincollege.

Sports

Fromtheearliesttimes,peoplehaveheldsportscompetitions.Theathleticfewcompeteonthefieldwhiletherestofusparticipatefromthesafetyofourseats.Todaysportsarecertainlyaspopularasever,andbecauseofradioandtelevision,wecannowcompetefromadistance.

Infact,forimportantcompetitions,thewholeworldbecomesonebigstadium.

Itishardtosaywhyhumanslikeorganizedgames.Thereasonsthatweenjoysportsprobablydifferfrompersontoperson.Whetherlittlekidsarekickingaballaroundacityplayground,ormillion-dollar-a-yearathletesareplayinginamodernstadium,theexcitementofcompetition,motion,discipline,andbeautyareintheair.

Whodoesn’tstoptowatchaballgameinthestreetoraswimmerinapool?

Whatparentsarenotproudtoseetheirchildrencarriedoffthefieldbythankfulfans?

Fortheplayers,thejoysofsportsmanshipcanincludepunishingself-disciplineandthefriendshipofteammates.
