thewarhebecameinterestedincomputingmachinesandmadeseveralfundamental

contributionsAfterthewar,vonNeumanncontinuedhisworkwithcomputers,andwas

generallyveryactiveingovernmentservice.Hereceivedmanyawards,waspresident

oftheAmericanMathematicalSocietyandwasamemberoftheAtomicEnergyCommission.
