因为汉语的一句话有时比较长，句子界限不很清楚，含义较多，英语句子受形式逻辑支配，形式严谨，所以汉译英时，要断句。

流水句，是指一口气说几件事，中间似断似连，直到说完为止，才算有一个句号。

英译时，因为原句较长，语意复杂，很难用一句表达清楚，往往需要分译成两句或多句。

这可以成为汉译英断句的一条原则：

流水句英译时一般需要断句。

断句时根据英语句子必须主谓齐全的要求。

如这里中国政治稳定，经济发展，市场繁荣，中国政府坚持对外开放、积极发展与世界各国的关系，也为旅游业的发展创造了极为有利的条件。

这里虽是一句，实际上可分为三个主谓齐全的句子，即中国政治稳定，经济发展，市场繁荣。

中国坚持对外开放、积极发展与世界各国的关系。

这些为旅游业的发展创造了极为有利的条件。

对汉语长句进行断句处理,是出于英语表达习惯的需要.断句是为了用英语对汉语原句的内容按逻辑重新组合,而不是任意改写.英译时必须完整地保留原句的意思,做到不增不减.

PS:

Shirleyma166问我boastof不是自吹自擂的意思吗，用在这里不太好吧，不如改为berichin。

我觉得可能其他童鞋也会有这方面的疑问，在此作出解答。

boast的确是有夸耀、自吹自擂的意思

boast还有其他的意思哦。

作为及物动词时有如下二个意思：

b:

topossessandoftencallattentionto（somethingthatisasourceofpride）（有值得骄傲的东西）

have,contain（拥有、包含）

berichin是富含的意思，和abundant（丰富）稍嫌语意重复。

Itboastsofabundanttouristresources,with....这里作为不及物动词，可以理解为以······为耀，自豪的意思（takepridein/beproudof...），不过我个人觉得如果将of去掉更好。

类似还有：

1、决不能松懈和放松，汉语中很常见的话，但翻译成英文的话，按照英语的行文习惯主谓宾一般是要齐全、确切的。

这里我们就要找到松懈和放松的宾语。

2、如果把农产品供过于求、价格下跌、农民收入增加缓慢等问题译为Suchproblemsasoversupplyofagriculturalproductscoupledwithpricedropsandslowincreasesinfarmers'incomehaverisen的话主语suchproblems和谓语haverisen就相隔太遥远了，所以可以灵活调整为：
