Kaiser,HenryJohn,(1882–1967)wasanAmericanindustrialist.Heorganizedhisfirstconstructioncompanyin1913,soonenteredtheroad-pavingbusiness,andby1930wasaleaderinthefield.In1931hewasnamedchairmanoftheexecutivecommitteeofthecompanyformedtobuildHooverDam.HealsoparticipatedintheconstructionofBonneville,GrandCoulee,andShastadamsandtheSanFrancisco–OaklandBridgeunderwaterfoundations.In1938,heestablishedthefirsthealthmaintenanceorganization,theKaiserplan,forhisshipyardemployees;itservedmorethanamillionpeopleandbecameamodelforlaterfederalprograms.DuringWorldWarIIhemanagedPacificcoastshipyardsthathandledagreatdealofthewartimeshipbuildingfortheU.S.governmentanddramaticallyincreasedthespeedofshipconstruction.From1945tohisdeath,heservedaschairmanofKaiserIndustries,anenterpriseinvolvingsteel,aluminum,andhomebuilding.
