Abstract:

ChinaandJapanaredifferentfromtheclassicalgardensofEuropeandwesternAsiawiththeEastgardensystem,theJapanesegardenbythegreatinfluenceofChinesegardens,therearemanysimilaritiesbetweenthetwo.ButafterJapan’slonghistoryoffiltrationanddigestion,andgraduallyformedthecharactertraitsofJapaneseculturewithgardenart.AndtheChinesegardensinmanywaystheyhavedifferences.Inthispaper,thedistinctcharacteristicsbetweenthetwotocomparethedifferencesandtheunderlyingcausesoftheirdifferencesinananalysis.

TheChineseandJapaneseclassicalgardensbelongtotheEastGardensystem,differentfromthegardensofEuropeandWesternAsia.JapanesegardenstronglyinfluencedbyChinesegarden,betweenthetwo,therearemanysimilarities.However,afterJapan’slong-termhistoricalfilteranddigestion,andgraduallyformthecharactertraitsofJapanesecultureofgardenart,differentfromtheChinesegardeninmanyareas.Inthispaper,Itrytocomparethedifferencebetweentheirdistinctivecharacteristics,andtoanalyzetheunderlyingcauses.

ClassicalgardensinChinaandJapanbelongtotheworld’sthreegardensystem（withChinaastherepresentativeoftheOrientalgarden,WestAsia,Europe）Orientalgardensystem.Orientalattitudetonatureistomakefriendswithnature,torecognizeandunderstandthenaturalbasistoobtainanatural.JapanesegardeninChinadirectlyundertheinfluenceofgardensdeveloped,tosomeextentcanbesaidthatitistheancientChinesecivilization,embodiedintheJapaneseGardenarea.Japan,however,hearguedinalongtimebyChinesecultureandinfiltrationintheprocessofconstantlythroughthefilteranddigestitsownhistory,andgraduallyformedthecharactertraitsofJapaneseculturewithartofthegarden.Betweenthetwocountriesfollowingtheformationanddevelopmentofclassicalgardenstocomparethemainfeaturesandanalysis,andtoexploreitscauses.

Firstofall,theChineseandJapanesegardens,bytypeofbelonging,canbedividedintoroyalgardens,privategardens,andreligiouslandscape.China’semphasisontheroyalandprivategardens,religiousgardenweakest;TheJapaneseemphasisonthetemplesandprivategardens.Chineseroyalgarden,suchastheexistingXiyuan,SummerPalace（Figure1）andtheChengdeSummerResort,generallylocatedintheCentralPlains,orthenorth,howhigh,appeardignifiedandelegant,luxuriousandgenerous.Areaislargeinscale,toweringmountains,openwater,theaxisobviously,architecturalrenderingnorthernstyle,cornerQiqiaosmall,multi-glazedtileroof,timber-framedpaintingmore.Privategardensarecharacterizedbysmallsize,civilianmeansstrong,themountainshort,narrowsurfaceofthewater,buildingbodymassissmall,upturnedcornersofQiQiaolarge（Figure2）.China’sreligiouslandscapecharacterofthemostobvious,mostlyBuddhistmonasterygardensandTaoistTaoistgarden.Ofexpression,thelessreflectthereligioussignificance,moretodowithConfucianism,formingwithConfucianism,Taoism,Buddhismandcombinescharacteristics.Southofthetemplegardenmorepoeticperformanceoftheliterati,butbyreligiousarchitecture,incense,pilgrimsandreligiousactivitiestohighlightthenatureoftheirreligion.Japan’sreligiouslandscapeisindependentofroyalandprivategardens,style,obviously,payattentiontoChansidryItalian,ItalianBuddhastrong.GardenitselfisshapedbytheimageandatmosphereofreligiousgardenisdifferentfromChina’sreligiouslandscape.

Secondly,fromthelayoutoftheformview,theChineseandJapanesegardensareanaturallandscapegarden.However,theChineseemphasisonmountainlandscape,whereastheJapanesegardenstendtowater.Chinesegardenmusthavemountains,parkscanbenoislands,buttheremustparkislandofJapan.Compositionfromthegardenview,theSino-Japanesegardensaremainlymadetotheheart-typecompositionandtheWestern-stylegardenincontrasttotherules.However,therearealsodifferencesbetweenthetwo:
