Thevolumeofannualtradecarriedonitsplatforms,stillmostlywithinChina,exceedsthatofeBayandAmazoncombined.

AlibabaoperatesitsownonlinepaymentsystemAlipay,andhasreceivedapprovalfromBeijingtoopenaprivatebank.Italsooffersanavigationsystem,anonlinetouroperator,andamusicstreamingservice,amongotherthings.

"Alibabaisnotonlyane-commerceplatform,itisthelargestdigitalecosysteminChina,"saidWang."WhereveryouareinChina,Alibabaactuallyknowsyourbehaviour."
