BreakElongation—TheElongationofthespecimentothebreakpoint.

BreakingLoad—Loadwhichcausesfractureinatensile,compression,flexureorTorsionTest.

testsofthinsheetmaterialsormaterialsinformofsmalldiameterwireitisdifficultto

deformationunderload.Dataobtainedinacreeptestusuallyispresentedasaplotofcreepvs.

diagramcorrespondingtosecondarycreep.

CreepRecovery—Rateofdecreaseindeformationthatoccurswhenloadisremovedafter

prolongedapplicationinaCreepTest.Constanttemperatureismaintainedtoeliminateeffects

ofthermalexpansion,andmeasurementsaretakenfromtimeloadiszerotoeliminateelastic

effects.

CreepRuptureStrength—Stressrequiredtocausefractureinacreeptestwithinaspecified

CrushingLoad—Maximumcompressiveforceappliedduringacompressionorcrushingtest.

Formaterialsthatdonotshatter,crushingloadisdefinedastheforcerequiredtoproducea

specifiedtypeoffailure.

CrushingStrength—Compressiveloadrequiredtocauseacracktoforminasinteredmetal

powderbearing(ASTMB-438andB-439).Coldcrushingstrengthofrefractorybricksand
