TheMITxwillserveasthefoundationforthenewlearningplatform.

MITPresidentSusanHockfieldsaidmorethan120,000peoplesignedupforthefirstMITxcourse.ShesaidHarvardandMIThopeotheruniversitieswilljointheminofferingcoursesontheopen-sourceedXplatform.

“Fastenyourseatbelts,”Hockfieldsaid.

Otheruniversities,includingStanford,YaleandCarnegie-Mellon,havebeenexperimentingwithteachingtoaglobalpopulationonline.
