IntroductionofTaipeiMedicalUniversity

TaipeiMedicalUniversity（TMU）,formerlyknownasTaipeiMedicalCollege（TMC）,wasfoundedonJune1,1960byDr.Shui-WangHu,Dr.Cheng-TienHsualongwithothermedicalprofessionalsanddevotededucators.TMUislocatedonWuxingStreetateastareaofTaipeiCity.In2000,TMCwasrenamedasTMUandconsistsof5colleges（CollegeofMedicine,CollegeofOralMedicine,CollegeofPharmacy,CollegeofNursing,andCollegeofPublicHealthandNutrition）,13undergraduateschoolsand13graduateinstitutes.

Duringthepast48years,TMUhasdevotedtomedicaleducationthroughtheeffortsof5collegesandCenterforGeneralEducation.Currently,thereareover6,000students,400full-timefaculties,600part-timefaculties,andalmost30,000alumniallovertheworld.Mostofouralumniserveinmedicalinstitutionsandclinicswhilesomeareprominentfiguresinthefieldsofresearch,politics,andbusiness.TMUoperatesthreeaffiliatedhospitals,includingTMUHospital,WanFangHospital,andShuanghoHospital,with3,080beds,whichbecomesoneofthelargestandintacthealthcaresystemswithhighqualityofteaching,research,andclinicalservicesinTaipei.UndertheconnectionoftheGlobalLiaisonCenter,wehavebuiltthepartnershipwithmorethan100world-wideuniversities,institutes,andhospitals,andthesuccessfulexperienceofTMUhasbeenwell-knownaroundtheworld.Ourteachingachievementhasbeenawardedfor3consecutiveyears,whichwasgrantedbytheMinistryofEducation,Taiwan.Ouraffiliatedhospitalshavenotonlyreceivednumerousawardsandcertificates,butalsobeenaccreditedbyJointCommissionInternational（JCI）,andrecognizedasasuccessfulBuilt-Operate-Transfer（BOT）modelwiththeNationalQualityAwardinTaiwan.InsistingontotalqualitymanagementnotonlygrantsTMUanditsaffiliatedhospitalsaremarkablepositionamongmedicaluniversitiesandhospitalsinTaiwan,butalsoagglomeratestudents,faculties,andhospitalstaffsalltogetherforthebestservicestothesocietyandtheworld.Wecontinuouslyimprovethequalityandquantityofteaching,research,andclinicalservicestoachieveaninfluential,globalized,andworld-leadinguniversity.

IntroductionofInternationalMaster’sPrograminHealthCareAdministration

SchoolofHealthCareAdministrationwasfoundedin1997tocultivatereputablestaffsandleadersforthemedicalorganizationaswellasraisethestandardofTaiwan’shealthcareadministrationandacademicresearchinthefield.Themasterprogramwasestablishedin2000,andprovidesthechancestomakeprogressandbroadenglobalvisionsforat-workhealthcareadministrators.AshealthcaresystemsexpandrapidlyinTaiwan,theadministrationleaderswithexpertiseinprofessionalmanagementbecomeincreasinglydemanded.Practicalexperienceinlocalhospitalsorinternationalorganizationsisrequiredbyallstudentspriortograduation.Theeducationalgoalistoguidestudentstobecomeindependent,enthusiastic,wellcommunicated,andglobalminded.

TheInternationalMaster’sPrograminHealthCareAdministrationoffersinterdisciplinarycoursesinEnglishprovidedbyseveralschoolsorgraduateinstitutesatTaipeiMedicalUniversity-SchoolofHealthCareAdministration,GraduateInstituteofBiomedicalInformatics,SchoolofNutritionandHealthSciences,GraduateInstituteofInjuryPreventionandControl,andGraduateInstituteofHumanitiesinMedicine.Thecorecoursesfocusprimarilyonhealthcareadministration,andtheprogramalsoprovidescoursesintheoryandpracticesofhealthinsurance,medicalinformaticsandhospitalinformationsystems,nutritionandhealthmanagement,disastermanagement,andinternationaljusticeandbioethics.

1.Qualification

1.Eligibilityislimitedtostudentswhohavecompletedabachelor’s（ormaster’s）degreeatforeigncollegesoruniversitiesaccreditedbytheMinistryofEducationoftheRepublicofChina（Taiwan）.

2.ApplicationislimitedtostudentswhodonotholdTaiwanesenationality,asdefinedintheenrollmentregulationsforforeignstudentsofTaipeiMedicalUniversity（includingoverseasChinese）,andmustmeettheadmissionrequirementsoftheSchoolofHealthCareAdministration.

3.ApplicantswhoarerecommendedbytheROC（Taiwan）Embassy/RepresentativeOfficeintheirhomecountrywillbegivenpreferentialconsideration.

2.Admission

Objectives

1.Providingcoursesbasedontheory,application,andpracticesintheintegratedfieldsofhealthcareandmanagement,inordertotraingoal-orientedprofessionalswithinternationalvisioninhealthcareadministration.

2.Helpingtocultivateoutstandinginternationalprofessionalsinhealthcareadministrationwithanaimtoenhanceglobalcollaborationinhealthmanagement,andenablegraduatestomakemeaningfuladvancesinhealthmanagementonreturningtotheirhomecountry.
