辨析join/joinin/takepartin/attend/
participate:
○1join表示“加入党派、组织、社团、俱乐部”
等,如jointheParty/YouthLeague/army/
club/organization。
○2joinin表示“参加正在进行的活动”,如joinin
agame/discussion/conversation/walk。
亦可
说:
joinsbin(doing)sth。
○3takepartin表示“参加会议、活动”,侧重说
明主语参加并发挥一定作用,part前若有修饰
语,要用不定冠词,如take(anactive)partina
party/schoolactivities/physicallabour。
○4attend表示“出席或参加会议、仪式、婚礼、
葬礼、典礼,上课,上学,听报告”,如attend
ameeting/asportsmeeting/aconcert/ashow
/school/alecture。

○5participate为正式用语,和介词in连用,表
示积极地参与。

表示“阻止⋯做⋯”的动词有:
block⋯;(from)⋯/prevent⋯;(from)⋯/stop⋯;
(from)⋯/ban⋯;(from)⋯/keep⋯from⋯
7.becauseof因为;由于
becauseof是介词短语,后跟名词、代词或动名词;because是连词,后跟从句。
辨析becauseof/owingto/dueto/onaccountof
/thanksto:
这五个短语都有“由于、因为”的意思,都是介词
短语,因此后面不可接从句。
○1becauseof意为“由于,因为”,强调因果关系,
在句中一般作状语。
○2owingto与becauseof一样,也强调因果关系,
作表语或状语。
○3dueto引出造成后果的原因,在句中常作表
语、状语。
作状语时与owingto同义,但due
to一般不置于句首。

○4onaccountof与becauseof,owingto同义,但
语气较为正式。
可作状语、表语。
○5thanksto只能用作状语,可以表达正面意思,
“幸亏”,也可用于讽刺口吻中(近于讽刺口
吻中的“感谢”)。

8.comeup走近;上来;发芽;发生;被提出;(太阳、月亮等)升起

comeup含有“被提出”之意,以物作主语,
此时不用被动语态;而comeupwith意为“提
出,想出”,其主语是人。

9.suchas例如⋯;像这种的
辨析suchas/forexample/thatis/andsoon:
○1suchas⋯用来列举事物。
通常放在被列举的事
物的前面以及需要说明的事物的后面,意思
是“比如;诸如⋯之类的”,也与like互换,as后面不能有逗号。
○2forexample⋯起到补充说明的作用,表明在众
多内容中仅举一个或少数几个例子,可位于
句首、句中或句末,意思是“例如⋯;举个例
子⋯”。
○3thatis是后面列举的事物的总量等于它前面
所提到的总和,相当于namely,意思是“即,
也就是说”。
○4andsoon对几个事物进行列举时,在说了其
中的几个以后,用⋯andsoon进行概括,说
明还有例子,但不一一列出了,意思是“⋯等”。
