3.Whatareyourresponsibilitiesasasecondofficer

thesecondofficeristhenavigationalofficerandsometimesalsomedicalofficeronboard.besides,thesecondofficershallassistthechiefofficer.Hisdutiesmayincludethefollowing:

(1)navigationwatchkeepingfrom1200to1600andfrom0000to0400

(2)chartandnavigationalpublicationcorrections

(4)usuallyworkingasthedesignatedcommunicationsofficer

(5)maintenanceofcommunicationequipment,instrumentsandsparepartsonboardthisship

(6)Takecareofallthebasicnavigationalequipmentandinstrumentsincludingmagneticcompass,gyrocompass,gyrorepeaters,timechanges,depthsounders,courserecorder,GPSreceivers,andsoon.

(7)Maintenanceofinventoriesofthestationery

(8)Medicalduties.

(9)Someotherworksdesignatedbymasterorchiefofficer.

4.Pleasebrieflydescribetheprocedureofdealingwithnavigationalwarnings.

FirstlyIshallregisterthenavigationalwarningsintheregisterbookandrecordthewarningnumberinthecard.

SecondlyIshallselectthechartsthatareaffectedbythewarnings.ThenIshallusepens,scissorsandgluestofixpermanentnotice.Ishallalsousepencilstofixtemporaryandpreliminarynotices.Thechartsaretobecorrectedaccordingtoalltheconcernedwarnings.WhenIcorrectthechart,Ishallfrequentlyconsultthegeographicalindex.
