Thehomesecretary,TheresaMay,istoannounceawide-ranginginquiryintopublicbodies'andinstitutions'handlingofhistoricalchildabuseallegations.DavidCameronsaidtherewouldbenostoneleftunturnedinthesearchforthetruth.
DowningStreetdrewparallelswiththepanelinquiryintothe1989Hillsboroughdisaster–anditssubsequenthandlingbypublicbodiesincludingthepolice–ratherthanthejudge-ledLevesoninquiryintothepracticesofthepress.
Theprimeminister'sspokesmansaidtherewasacaseforexamininghowarangeofpublicbodieshandledchildabuseclaims.Therearelikelytoincludehospitals,broadcasting,thechurch,judicialauthoritiesaswellaspoliticalbodies.
