摘要

阅读是英语作为第二种语言或外语学习中四大重要的技巧之一.尤其是快速阅读,它是学生需要养成独立和自我直接阅读的技巧,伴随着信息时代的到来,英语资料也逐渐从纸质材料转变成电子材料.因此,为了每天能够获得尽可能多的信息,加快英语专业学生的阅读速度也变的越来越重要.为了能够获得越来越多的知识,对学生来说有效的掌握它们并消化它们是必须的。

本篇文章将介绍快速阅读的重要性,将从三个方面进行介绍和阐述。

ReadingisoneofthefourimportantskillsinEnglishassecondorforeignlanguage,especiallyfastreading,itisalsoaskillthatthestudentsneedtopossesstosupportindependentandself-directedlearning.Withtheinformationagearrival,theEnglishmaterialsgraduallychangefrompapertoelectronicones.SoitbecomesmoreandmoreimportantforEnglishmajortospeeduptheirreadinginordertoacquireasmushinformationaspossibleeveryday.Thestudentsareabletoacquiremoreandmoreknowledgeintherapidadvancementofallkindsofinformation;Thisarticlewillintroducethatthespeedreadingtheimportance,willcarryontheintroductionandtheelaborationfromthreeaspects.

Introduction

Inthepast,itwasthoughtthatalanguagewasasystemoflinguisticsymbolsandstudentswererequestedtorememberthewordsandgrammarrules,soEnglishreadingwasconsideredasawayforstudentstoenlargetheirvocabularyandenforcelinguisticrules.Ontheotherhands,theaimofEnglishteachingwastohelpstudentspasstheexams.Soteacherswerepayingcloseattentiontothedevelopmentofthestudents’test-orientedabilities.Somestudentsmightgethighmarksintheirtests,butlackedintheabilitiestocommunicate.Thatistosay,studentslearnednothingbutsomewordsandgrammarrulesinEnglishreading.

Nowadays,withthedevelopmentofsociety,scienceandtechnologydevelopathighspeedandthecompetitioninthesocietybecomesharp.Studiesinthepasthaveshownthattheexam-orientededucationalsystempromotesrotelearning,andsothatthereneedstobeaparadigmshiftinhowstudentsvieweducationandaboutthewaytheylearn.MoststudentsreadEnglishmaterialsonlytopassexamanddonotreadforpleasure.Thus,aftermanyyearoflearningEnglish,someoneevenhasnotknownthathowimportantreadingis.

Thefollowingpassageistalkingabouttheimportanceoffastreading;readingskillsandhowtoimprovetheabilityoffastreading.

 

II.TheImportanceofFastReading

Duringourstudies,nearly80%oftheknowledgeisgottenthroughreading,learning,nomatteratschoolorbyoneself,mostrequiresreadingandreadingisalsooneofthecheapestandfastestmethodsofgettinginformation.

Fastreadingisevenmoreusefulandimportant,especiallyinnowadays,inordertobecomewell-learntpeoplethatthesocietyneeds,moststudentslongforextensiveEnglishreading,hopingtodopreparationforthefuturejobbythisway.Atthesametime,thepurposesofstudentsaretocompletethestudiesandtoobtaingoodresults.Inordertoadapttothedemandofsocietyandschool,studentstreatseekingknowledgeasthefirstduty.Theyrelatethemselvesthroughfastreadingandbecomethelearnedpersonswhocanfacethechallengesofthesociety.Therefore,themotivationofthemajoritycollegestudentsisdefinite.ItisalsoobviousthattheEnglishreadingmaterialstotheelectronicreadingmaterials.Theinternetthatopensanotherwindowforthestudentsbecomestheeasiesttooltogetinformation.Nowtheseriousproblemisthatstudentsfeelthattheydonnotunderstandasmuchasslowreaders,butactuallythereislittlerelationshipbetweenreadingspeedandcomprehensionslowreadersusuallyputtoomuchemphasisonsinglewordandoftenslowdownonsomeunfamiliarornewwords.Thiswillinterferewithunderstandingofthewholepassage.

Withoutareasonablecomprehension,fastreadingisnotsignificant,soteachingfastreadingisatrainingprocessstrengtheningthememoryandcomprehensionofreadinginwhichthestudentsarealwaysrequiredtocomprehendthemainideaandtoremembertheimportantdetailsofreadingmaterialsasquicklyandaccuratelyaspossible.

 

III.ReadingSkills

Readingrapidlyisanessentialskillforallstudentsanditenablesthemtoenlargetheirknowledge.Itisanabilitythatstudentsneedfortheirfurthereducation.Inordertodealwithapileofbooksandthedullexaminations,theyneedsomeskillsinspeedreadingandaverygoodcomprehension.Howtoimprovethereadingspeedisbecomemoreandmoreimportant.

A.ChoosingEasyandInterestingMaterials

Manystudentstrytoincreasetheireffectivereadingsped.Butoftentheyfindthatiftheytrytoracethroughapassagefastertheyfailtorememberwhattheyarereading.Theproblemhereisthatthematerialstheyarereadingistoodifficultforthembothinvocabularyandincontent,sothestudentsshouldchoosethesuitablematerials.

B.SkimmingandScanning

Makingthestudentscorrecttheirownpaperimmediatelyafterfinishingthereadingisagoodteachingmethod.Themoreimmediatelytheknowledgeofrightorwrongstudentsget,thebetterthelearningwillbe,studentswillreceiveacertainsatisfactionfromknowingthattheygottheanswercorrect.ifthequestionswereansweredwrongly,theyshouldknowthisassoonaspossiblesothattheycancorrecttheirerrors.teachersshouldtrytopreparesufficientenoughmaterialsofaveragedifficultiesforthestudentstoreadoutoftheclassintheirsparetimeandstateclearlytherequirementsforthereading,suchas,readingtime,howmuchtimetoread,questionstoanswer,etc.itisaneffectivewaytogavestudentssomethingtoreadwithprecessionsorpre-requirementsandfollowbyquestionswithdifferentdifficulties.

 

III.FormingtheEnglishReadingHabits

Thisisthemostessentialofallreadingskills.ItinvolvesreadinganEnglishtextthoroughlyinordertocomprehendtheideasandargumentsitcontains.In-depthreadingisconsequentlymuchslowerthanskimreading,andthecollegestudentsmayfindthattheyneedstoreadcertainsectionsofadifficultEnglishtextmorethanonce.Whenreadingin-depthitisusefultoreadtheopeningparagraphsandconclusionfirst.Thiswillhelpthecollegestudentstodigesttheintentionandconclusionofthewriterpriortoacloserreadingofthetext.Itisusefultogobacktothebeginning,andreadthroughthewholetextandatthesametimemarkoutsomekeywordsandphrases.Therefore,In-depthreadingrequiresthecollegestudentstobeattentivetotheimportantideas,facts,anddata.Byin-depthreading,thecollegestudentscanunderstandthewriter’smainideasandarguments,andtheoverallmessageofthetextwell.Theattitudeofthecollegestudentsshouldbeactiveandcritical.
