Whatonearthdotheymean?
Well,“totes”isashortformof“totally.”Similarly,“tradge”means“tragic”and“emosh”means“emotional”.Itseemsthat,formillennials,typinginthisformisnotonlytime-savingbutfashionable.
Asyoucansee,manymillennialslangs(俚语)areformedbyso-called“totesing”---thesystematicabbreviation(缩写)ofwords.Thetrendmighthavestartedwith“totally”becoming“totes”,butitnowhasspreadtomanyotherEnglishwords.
