美国皮尤研究中心日前针对受众态度和新闻媒体现状进行的一项问卷调查结果显示，美国新闻媒体的影响力正在下降。

31%的受访者表示，他们不再对某种新闻媒体感兴趣，因为这些媒体要么不再提供他们所需要的信息，要么报道得并不详细。

调查指出,由于消息的来源日益多元化，许多记者沦为“传声筒”，越来越依赖社交网络或数字科技来代替传统的新闻过滤和原创过程，而不再是故事的讲述者或新闻事件的调查者,从而可能导致新闻失实。

皮尤研究中心分析认为，美国媒体的新闻质量下降，是因为在数字媒体的影响下，美国传统新闻媒体机构陷入裁员潮。

美国一些知名新闻机构近来纷纷传出裁员消息，其中包括《新闻周刊》、《纽约时报》、美国有线电视新闻网和《时代周刊》等。

哥伦比亚大学新闻学院的谢斯睿教授却认为，不是美国媒体的新闻质量本身出现了问题，而是人们对于新闻的消费习惯正在发生改变，对报纸和电视等传统媒体的需求正在发生转移。
