　　单词holiday在一般情况下是可数名词。

例如，TherearefourmajorholidaysinBritain.英国有四大主要假期。

不过，你有没有注意到在以上的情景对话中的出现了“howmuchholidaydoyouget”这个说法？

这里用了holiday的单数形式，而不是其复数形式holidays，这是为什么呢？

根据上下文语境我们可以判断出这里holiday指的是放假的时间，而时间是不可数名词，所以holiday在这里也就成了不可数名词。

请看以下几个例句：

　　你知道吗？

　　英国的公共假日被称为“bankholidays”，也被称为“银行休假日”。

公共假日和银行有什么关系呢？

很久以前，所有银行会在固定的日子里不营业，由此造成了其他行业无法正常营业，所以也随之关门。

现如今，很多商店在bankholidays时都正常营业，不过所有的银行仍然不营业。

英国一般每年有8个公共假日，这些假日的时间不固定，每年都会有一些变动。

公共假日大都会被设置在周一或周五，这样就能把周末拉长一、两天，这样的“加常”周末被俗称为longweekend或bankholidayweekend。
