Lexicologyisconcernedwiththestudyofthemeaningofwordsandthecompositionofwords.Thescopeoflexicologymainlyembracesword-formation,meaningandtheusageofwordsandwordequivalents.Accordingly,inthispaper,Iwillanalyzetheseaspectsbyanalyzingthetwoleadingcharacters’dialoguesandconnectingwiththeiroccupationsandthedegreeofeducationofTheBigBangTheory.
2.Mainbody:
Word–formationstudiesthepatternsonwhichalanguage,inthiscasetheEnglishlanguage,coinsnewwords,whichisalsocalledneologism.Compoundingisonemajortypeofword-formationwhichiswidelyusedinthetwoleadingcharacters,PennyandSheldon’sspeeches.
Compoundingconsistsofcombiningtwoormorewordsintoonewhichnowexpressesasingleideaandfunctionsasaseparatelexicalunit,whichisthemostproductiveword-formationprocessincontemporaryEnglish.Accordingtopartsofthecompounds,compoundsareclassifiedintonouncompounds,adjectivecompounds,andverbcompounds,allofwhichcanbesubdividedaccordingtothesyntacticrelationofthecompoundingelements

Commonwords,orpopularwords,arewordsconnectedwiththeordinarythingsoractivitiesnecessarytoeverydaylife,whicharestylisticallyneutralsothattheycanbeusedinbothformalandinformalwritingandspeech.TakethefollowingsentencesfromBigBangforexamples:
