Thisguideisdevelopedtofacilitateforcompaniesthatimportgoodsinthefieldsoftextiles,

clothes,leathergoodsandshoestocomplywiththechemicallegislationand

recommendationsinforce.Thisguidealsoincludesrecommendationsregardingpackaging

material.Byrequiringthattheirsuppliersfollowtheseguidelines,andtherebyavoiding

importingproductscontainingunwantedsubstances,humanhealthandtheenvironmentare

protectedinproducing,supplyingandimportingcountries.Importofthementionedproducts

from,inparticular,developingcountriestotheEuropeanUnion（EU）isalsofacilitatedand

promotedbythisguide.

describedintheguide.

PROCESSCHEMICALS

Processchemicalsareusedinthemanufacturingprocessoftextileandleathergoodsbuthave

nofunctioninthefinishedproduct.Remainsoftheprocesschemicalsmayhoweverbefound

inthefinishedproductandcausehealthorenvironmentalproblems.

ThemostcommonAPEOsareNonylphenolethoxylates（NPEO）andOctylphenolethoxylates

（OPEO）.

Shouldnotbeusedinprocesses.Occurrenceinproductsbelow

100mg/kg（0.01%）fortotalAPEOisregardedasunintended

residues（contaminants）whichcannotbecontrolled.

Irritatingtoskin.Themetabolitesaffecttherespiratorysystem,

haveendocrinedisruptiveeffect（hormones）andaredangerous

fortheenvironment.Nonylphenolethoxylatesarerapidly

degradedto4-nonylphenol,whichisevenmoredangerousfor

theenvironment.Asimilarenvironmentaldangeristhe

degradationofoctylphenolethoxylateinto4-octylphenol.
